I've been waiting like a madman for this to post😂

So excited

Not the best season, takes some time to find it's feet, and personally I would have preferred to jump in on 7 or 5 as they are particular standout seasons... but this is a good season, with great contestants, and I have been waiting for Taskmaster reactions for a long long time! so I'm grateful they're finally here! I just noticed it's the censored version, makes sense as it's probably the easiest to find/react to, but I hope it wont affect your enjoyment of the show.

Anonymous

You are in for a treat Josh. You will get to see the real personalities of some great UK comedians on Taskmaster. Still think spaced should have won first though!

Toby Lewis

Not my favourite season, but I think going in order is the right thing until it gets voted off. No point leaving the worst until last, because it’s all at least good anyway!

ALW

I always wanted to like Taskmaster, but I always felt like the tasks themselves were just a little too on the mundane side for me. I get that's the point, but I always wanted to see some larger scale stuff...Travel as far as possible with just five pounds or something.

8:20 looks like you're sucking on Greg's pen

I’ve been waiting for you to react to these. Season3 is my fave. You’ll come across some familiar faces through the series

Michael Harrop

The melon task is a great example of how the editing elevates Taskmaster. It's not just about what the contestants do but the juxtaposition of their attempts. You see the mundane attempts of Josh and Frank. The ineptitude of Roisin. Then hard cut to Tim and Romesh acting like complete lunatics and treating it like it's the most important thing they've ever done.

Michael Harrop

Tim Key is good friends with Alex and helps him come up with the tasks to this day. I think he deserves so much credit for establishing what the show is about, trying to find loopholes, ways to cheat the task to win. You'll see as you get deeper into the show how Tim is kind of the proto typical Taskmaster contestant.

Contex - It's Just A Ride

Can I recommend a show for the poll? Eastbound and down would be great. It's one of the few shows on here from your side of the isle.

Enter the Matrixster

Yeah Josh this version is Taskmaster bleeped, the original run is uncensored and it still exists on All4, though I don't know where you could find it for the US

BazMan01

I think Channel 4 bought the rights to this show, and have all seasons and episodes on there. (More 4 or whatever it's called). All episodes are uncensored on there. I think it's only YouTube that they censor it.

Anonymous

I think they did the hide and seek task with everyone beforehand in the event of a tie and then just showed the relevant ones.

Michael Harrop

The final task does matter and and included in the scores. They film a bunch of tie breaker tasks just in case they are needed. Tim, Josh and Roisin will have also done the 'find Alex' task. But because they weren't in the tie breaker their attempts weren't relevent.

Anonymous

I'm not sure if you recognised him but you've seen Tim Key before, in Peep Show he lived with Mark for a while and Hans & Jez dragged him out of the flat in his sleeping bag, and he was Alan Partridge's "Sidekick Simon" in Alpha Papa. He's my favourite in this season, glad you enjoyed him too. Regarding the tie-break task, it's likely they recorded a few of them in case of tie-break situations, presumably the other three contestants also did that task but it wasn't necessary for us to see it. So the live task does count towards points, it can sometimes be a big decider on the winner.

Chris H

Josh, they film a couple of extra tasks each series to use as deciders in the event of a tie at the end of the live task. All of the contestants have taken part in the tiebreaker task but they only show you the ones that they need to

Chris H

Is that the one with Dave Gorman and Al Murray? I loved that series as well, it didn't seem to be too popular in the poll though

dubs

I think a way around massive seasons and episodes if do 1 to 5 then pull it out of a few polls then bring it back in from 6 to 10 seasons and do the same each time the uncensored version is much better btw

Andrew

Just to echo what others have said, there is a PC censored version of the show and an uncensored version, the one you watched is the censored where they cut out all the swearing and many jokes, hopefully starting next week you can move to the uncensored version, they are just as easy to find and hopefully someone in the comments can send you the links

Anonymous

I think the way you're approaching it is great - I'm a big taskmaster fan so would love to see you do plenty of seasons but I think you've the right idea to take it a season at a time and maybe do some of the favourite seasons.

Mark McKeown

Excited for this, but yes please find the uncensored versions if you can 🙏🙏

CatsandCrafts

Decided to watch tonight and so glad I did! Thank you Josh…you have made me smile so much already this year! Hi to all the others watching you on here 👋 I hope your 2022 has been treating you well thus far. So looking forward to the next episode of it.xx

Anonymous

Hopefully we can switch to the uncensored version going forward. Glad Taskmaster is finally here.

David Lyons

I forget when exactly they come up, but there are a few instances where later series refer to winners of previous series (for example, a moment where a trophy is found in somebody's garage!), so jumping ahead might accidentally spoil a few winners.

Ian Richards

The very best episodes are still a way off, but this first series is great fun nevertheless. Right from the start there's a winning mix of personalities among the contestants: a couple of competitive, bull-by-the-horns types (Tim and Romesh), a more logical or lateral thinker (Josh), someone who barely knows what day of the week it is (Roisin), and a wily old veteran with a trick or two up their sleeve (Frank). The greatest Taskmaster series from here on pretty much follow that formula. As others have said, the uncensored version is very much the way forward if you can access it. It's quite funny (and a solid indicator of British values) that when the first episode of the most recent TM series premiered in the autumn, Channel 4 accidentally showed the censored version instead of the unexpurgated one, and prompted an outcry on social media by people horrified that the show was going to be "clean" from now on. Alex Horne had to personally reassure the nation on Twitter that it was just a random cock-up at Channel 4, and we wouldn't have to put up with such a gratuitous lack of filth from Taskmaster ever again.

David Lyons

I'm sure Josh would have instantly recognised Tim if he was covered in tape and had a shotgun to his head ;) Also Roisin plays Roxy/Daphne in After Life, so at least there's a couple of familiar faces from the start. Although now that I think about it, it's kind of surprising how many British shows Josh has watched without encountering Frank yet!

AfterWorkReactions

Thanks bud I am looking forward to continuing on with the series. I agree it is funny to watch how everyone reacts to the challenges. Oh ok thanks bud I will look into finding the other version. LOL that is great man. Take care and have a great week!

AfterWorkReactions

Thank you for watching, and I am glad you enjoyed! Thank you so much and I hope you are having a great start to the New Year!

Jay

Really enjoyed that Josh, thank you. With regards to unedited versions, they can be found on the free sign up service 'UKTV Play' website. Apparently the website works with a VPN, but it does contain adverts, so I assume you'd have to edit them out of your video. Just an idea if you're unable to find them elsewhere.

AfterWorkReactions

Thanks bud, glad you are enjoying it. I am looking into the other version. Take care and have a treat week!

You asked about the final live task and whether it mattered - the contestants get points for that task as well. Before it, Romesh had 17 points and Frank had 15, so the points they got in the live task took it to a tie break. They will have prepared a Frank v Rome tie break video, but also probably a Tim v Romesh, Tim v Frank, Josh v Tim etc, and then after the live task they'll known which one they can show in the studio

Anonymous

was this show broadcasted before 2100 ? i didn't realise it censored swearing or is it a recording of a repeat that was shown earlier

Anonymous

The tiebreak was done by all contestants. Then it’s only between whoever was tied at the end so they’d be prepared for any 2 people vs each other in case there was a tie. So Tim would’ve still done the task but it would only be used in a tie break situation. Season 7 next please, it’s so much better!

LyingSecret

Try and get the version with the swearing not censored, the beeping ruins some of the jokes honestly man. Love the show in any case :)

LyingSecret

The version available through 'legal means' for Americans sadly bleeps it out it seems, this was broadcast at 10pm and never censored anything aside from the odd 'c word'.

LyingSecret

Oh yeah something I forgot to say, one thing that would be fun is if you paused before each task, once given the rules, and say how you would do it? I do that with the person I watch them with just for a bit of extra fun :D

Chris

terrible idea. no-one cares how anyone else would do it. This show is (once it gets into it's stride) absolutely masterful at editing. The editing is half of what makes it funny. Start pausing it and you're destroying the flow. Comedy is all about the timing and Alex Horne excels here.

BigChanChan

Yeah, the bleeping doesn't normally bother me but it just feels wrong for this show and I found it really irritating and takes away from the show.

Anonymous

Definitely needs to find the uncensored version! Especially for some of the later series

Anonymous

Hey Josh I got an idea I want to throw out there. You could just watch a certain number of the top rated episodes through the whole show? IMDB has a top-rated episode list of each show: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?series=tt4934214&view=simple&count=250&sort=user_rating,desc&ref_=tt_eps_rhs_sm

Adam C Turek

Random Fact, Alex Horne the assistant is the Original Taskmaster and it's his creation. He would do it on stage at comedy festivals with what ever comedians were there at the time. But when the TV show got greenlit, the producers wanted someone more well known for the Taskmaster to help reach a wider audience. Greg Davies (headmaster from Inbetweeners and once a real life teacher) was perfect as he'd rule with an iron fist and gleefully not take shit from his fellow comedians. It's a great show, you've a lot to look forward to.

Anonymous

maybe im going crazy but i am sure you have missed the royal family the golden egg cup

Anonymous

That will presumably be posted tonight, Taskmaster has replaced 'League of Gentleman' which has finished. The Royle Family is still on Thursdays :)

Anonymous

I feel super stupid now lol

Anonymous

I don't actually know the answer. But for the tie breaks, I'm guessing they just record that challenge for everyone and include it in the show for whoever ties. Thanks for doing this! Love this show.

OutlawStar

Yeah. I think they have a few spare challenges recorded for everyone incase of tie breaks

Aoife L

So excited for this- love Taskmaster! I adored every single season with the exception of season 6 (the one with Russell Howard and Alice Levine, though Lisa Tarbuck was amazing).

Anonymous

I kind of agree on Season 6, I generally like all the contestants, and think they each had funny moments, but the chemistry wasn't quite there. I'm yet to watch Season 3, as I'm not really familiar with any of the contestants, but I've heard it's a good one. Season 7 and 5 really stand out to me though, and I also love Season 8 even though it doesn't seem to be as popular, so I hope Josh can react to them.

A L

I don't care how long it takes or if there are breaks in between, but I hope you continue to watch them all in order. Ignore the people saying one season is better than the other, or that you should skip certain ones. I've recently watched through the first 10 and they were all great in their own way. Yes, I may like some seasons more than others, but I'd be really disappointed if you were skip any of them due to other people's own biases.
