Sign of a great episode is when the time flies by. This is one of my favorite episodes.

I know I comment this on a lot of things, but the soundtrack definitely takes me back. I remember all of those songs being hits. "Mambo No. 5" is an awful, awful song but was the music for cricket on Channel 4 in the late nineties and early 2000s, and will hold some treasured memories (and some less treasured ones) for English cricket supporters. Anyway, great episode. Always fun to see Darren turn up.

Little joke you missed - a milk float is an electric vehicle used for delivering milk, bread etc - it's sort of out of fashion now but many places used to have their milk delivered that way! https://youtu.be/8m4VWrfPNxM

Really thought this was a disastrous choice when I heard it'd been voted in - I'm very pleased to be proven completely wrong. I never clicked with it first time around but watching it again on this channel has been a reawakening. It's completely brilliant. The balls it must've taken to write something this intentionally slow-paced and characterful, where almost nothing ever happens...to just have the confidence that the British viewing public will stick with it and fall for the characters... It doesn't surprise me that Michael Imperioli appreciates it. In its own way it's as experimental as any of the more out-there Sopranos episodes.

This was one of my favourite programmes when it was on, quoted endlessly amongst me and my friends at High school. I've got to admit though I didn't think you would like it as I thought it would be too British for you. The fact that you enjoy it so much makes me very happy 😁

Dude, I am so happy that you are getting to know this family so well and that you (as an American) are really "getting" them and all the nuances of this "very British" comedy. I'm glad for you, and I'm glad for us. By the way... A milk float is an electronic vehicle that was the replacement for the horse and cart that delivered milk to your door. You don't see many of them about nowadays (if any) because everyone gets their milk from the supermarket.

This is my first time watching Royle Family and I am dying here, growing up I heard endless stories of my father doing ridiculous things and one story that I heard over and over was him driving to the shops for his fags and walking home only to call the old bill thinking his car had been nicked! True story... I didn't think you could write it, but apparently you can haha!
