I like how you're trying to explain why Jim might have 5 fax machines. It's one thing I've noticed with American humour in that there seems to be this desire to explain things, whereas, in British humour, certain things are just funny - no explanation required. If you're disappointed by the lack of Jim in this episode just wait until next week...

Jim’s strange tendencies have no explanation. Each one is funny because it so ‘out there’, but the fact is that Jim is just….well, JIM! I’ve noticed as well that the things Jim comes out with never get mentioned again, only once, so like the Chinese, or fax machines. Also, i don’t think Johnny ever had a girlfriend at the start of season 1. I think he pretended to have one just so that his Dad wouldn’t go on at him about females like he does with Adam. He might have been seeing someone, but we never hear about her again. This is the most I’ve laughed at a FND since the first time I ever saw it. I really needed cheering up this evening. So thank you, and as always, sending nothing but love to you guys. Hope everyone on here has a good night.x

Jim is just Jim, you can’t explain him or his foibles, that’s what makes him so funny, there’s no rhyme or reason to why he is the way he is or does what he does. He just is.

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure Johnny's girlfriend was Liz, he was just always secretive about it because he didn't want his family to know he was sleeping with his boss. I guess he never saw it as a serious thing but found it easier to tell his parents he had a "girlfriend", then as time went on Liz felt more serious about him ... not sure why she's that into him when she's 43, he's not exactly mature for his age haha

Extremely awesomely sad that my overriding take away from this episode is that Jonny didn't know you could make you own bread. As I'm sat here watching, laughing and eating the bread I just made. 🤣
