Perfect timing. I was about to start deep cleaning the kitchen and I was hoping you would have this on before I started. Fantastic. Glad you are enjoying it.

Funnily enough one of the celebrities mentioned in the cave scene was "Don Henderson of Bulman fame", who actually played the rogue simulant in last night's Red Dwarf! (I never get invited to parties!)

You don't need to know too much about the celebs and bands mentioned - in fact, it's probably funnier if you don't: it makes it seem more pathetic

You did it again! TOADS, man - never frogs! So, in the cave the only real 'celebrity' you need to know to get the joke was Michael Buerke who presented 999 Rescue (think that's what it was), basically hinting at the fact someone had either died or had a serious accident in the cave. He was just the presenter but that's what they were getting at :)

lines and lines and lines and lines..... what do they mean? haha

I don't disagree with you Josh - this episode is a strange one for me and definitely - as far as I'm concerned too - the weakest so far, and perhaps even the weakest episode of all. I also don't think it's terrible, but just feels a bit limp next to the others. The good news is that everything after this is at least a step above this episode. The next episode is great, and series 2 is even stronger than series 1 overall for me. They really raise the bar and you will absolutely love it I'm sure. There were some good moments here, such as Geoff's best man speech, the Dentons, and the Hilary Briss thread, but episode 5 of series 1 has always felt a bit off-kilter, almost as if they had enough material for 5 great episodes but had been contracted initially to do 6, and they had to stitch episode 4 and 6 together to fulfil their obligations. Many of the sketches just seem a bit tedious and underwhelming, it isn't all that dark even (which is the show's main selling point IMHO), and the "main" characters from the first four episodes barely even feature. It's still pretty decent TV because the gents are fantastic writers and performers, but it's just their slightly more muted and forgettable material. I would actually go as far as to say the "cave tour" sketch is a misfire for my money - it doesn't do anything for me or even raise a smile and I get what they're trying to do, and where the jokes fall, but it's just a bit of a flat effort for me regardless. Not a heavy criticism - their batting average for this show is superb and there's some absolutely brilliant, ingenious stuff ahead. Line of the episode is of course, from Geoff: "I won the mums!!!!" :-D

ALW

Not the strongest episode. The cavern scene goes on far too long for example. but Les McQueen (it's a shit business!) continues to be consistently heartbreaking. But hey, at least Geoff won the mums.

Hey! That`s Stumps Cross Caverns they used for the caves location, that`s just a 10 minute drive from me up here in North Yorkshire

Come on now your Bottom fanbase are still waiting for you to react to the Live shows. Just because fans of other shows are watching you doesn't mean we don't exist anymore.

Joe

tell me you're entitled without telling me you're entitled.

Oh, and you can see the fourth member of The League of Gentlemen who writes rather than acts (Jeremy Dyson) - he's the one who swaps 3 lighters for £1.00 with Les McQueen at the beginning!

Finally getting round to this one, I remember them filming the first scene in our village. They kept the inflatable dolls in the back of the car between takes, as a 16yr old at the end of the 90's it was quite a sight 😂
