Maybe my favourite episode, it's a great sci-fi story.

A bit of random trivia for you. When Lister refers to a "G-Gook" in the line "Range, 15,000 G-Gooks and closing" It's the script writers having a bit of fun with certain Sci-Fi tropes because it simply means "Gobbledygook" or nonsense. Second, when Rimmer says "What on Io was that!?" It's a reference to his home planet Io, one of Jupiter's moons.

I just love this episode. It's a very compact story, easy to follow and packed with jokes and humorous scenes. And yes, Rimmer is fully hard light from now on. The only downside is that I wanted them to show "Revenge of the Surfboarding Killer Bikini Vampire Girls" as part of the episode. I always give this episode a 10 out of 10.

The physicists Kryten mentions are Heidegger, Davro, Holder and Quayle. The joke is while Heidegger is a real philospher, (Bobby) Davro is an 80s UK comedian, (Noddy) Holder is the lead singer of Glam Rock group Slade and (Dan) Quayle was George Bush's vice president. From the sounds of things their descendents did pretty well for themselves.

I love this episode; but I can't help but feel that if Legion was so brilliant in his original incarnation, he could have come up with a way to halt the ageing process, or built some androids to exist from, since apparently Kryten counts.

Mistaking the lightswitch for art is an old and widely-used trope (I seem to recall Columbo doing that and maybe Tony Hancock too) but Rimmer pretending to be a sophisticated connoisseur is perfect for it.

Adam C Turek

Hence fourth Rimmer can touch and interact things without it contradicting his being a hologram, it was becoming a headache for them to deal with so this makes it easier. I know, i know, we shouldn't be saying "ooh wait til you see next episode, it's amazing" - but fuck it, next episode is probably my fav of all Red Dwarf next to "Back to Reality". can't wait --- Guitar Strum ---

I suspect the physicist Quail refers to Dan Quayle. He was George H W Bush's Vice President from 1989 to 1993 and well known for his stupidity. This Red Dwarf episode was from 1993.

One of my fave episodes ^-^ I never got the physicists joke either.. unless Davro is a reference to Bobby Davro

Mr K

To be fair, I'd never try to leave there. 😂

One of my favourites next to gunmen of the apocalypse. If I remember correctly the actor that played legion had to be sown into the costume and could not go to the toilet for the entire shoot.

Quayle was the name. He was the US vice President at the time I believe, and he was known to be pretty dumb. Famously misspelled "potato" as "potatoe" at a school. Simpler times. Yeah, this was the one where you watched the "change the bulb" joke a year or so back.

Mick Mills

I think probably this is my favourite episode alongside Quarantine. So well written and such a fun concept. I remember thinking Legions voice was Stephen Fry... it's not, but it sounds like him.

You should watch a British show called "Utopia", Amazon just did a US remake.. which sucks. However the original is so good, it's basically predicting what is happening today lol. I would not be surprised if these vaccines do sterilise 7 billion people.

mwdoom

need some merch with... "errr" haha

Omg I was just on Youtube and saw that Craig Ferguson was "Lister's Confidence" Episode: "Confidence and Paranoia"........

Saul

Seriously? The slick haired shmoozer with the American accent in that episode? That was Craig Ferguson, the chat show host?? That just blew my mind for some reason

They did a nice job with the dialogue. The matter of fact way Legion states why Rimmer can't buy it is amusing
