Did you notice the voice of the self loathing beast was also Chris Barrie (Rimmer)? He's pretty talented as a voice actor and impressionist, he narrates the Red Dwarf audiobooks - whilst providing distinct voices for all the characters!

I met Chris Barrie (Rimmer) at PlayExpo, a gaming event in the UK. Really nice chilled out guy. He's also the main character in the TV show... 'The Brittas Empire'... ... I remember loving that show but I was young, so my memories might be clouded and could be trash lol. Anyone seen The Brittas Empire lately and is it any good?

they really liked ripping into Rimmer in season 4-5...though I don't remember as much in season 6

Still as much but the episode plots don't really beat him over the head as much, they're quite proportional with how much punishment they mete out. I actually think Lister gets the worst of it overall lol

blender is amazing , its the best imo , bit non intuitive but open source and free. love it. from 3d modeling to video editing , its a beast!

Probably the weakest episode of the season but tbh I've found more to like about S5 in general since the last time I saw it. Which makes the remaining episodes much more anticipated as the second half is stronger than the first.

In the series making of documentary Chris Barrie (Rimmer) said that he had heard about the oiling scene about 5 or 6 weeks before the shoot, so went straight to the gym so as not to embarrass himself. The other cast had a great time making fun of it on the dvd commentary.

Watching back season 5, you can really see the depth in the writing that began to emerge. It’s not all gags, there’s pathos but also warmth. Quarantine is by the far the episode that delivers the finest lines, but I’m a sucker for Back To Reality. I can’t believe this was nearly 30 years ago, a real slice of my high school years.
