Jesus dude, Bean messing up the painting still leaves me traumatized, very uncharacteristic of the show...

Mick Mills

:) I will give this one a miss. I get why people like it, its just not my cup of tea.

jack

I liked the TV series but the films are awful

Dave Houiellebecq

I really enjoyed this. Thanks for uploading josh. You seemed to enjoy it too!

Not one for me but can't wait for This is England :)

Ed

I like Mr. Bean and enjoy both movies. I think fans of Mr. Bean don't enjoy this movie as much as the second movie (Mr. Beans Holiday) because he talks a lot more in this one when the whole point of the character is that he should barely say anything. But I think that was done just to make it more relatable to an American audience. I really hope the series wins eventually because it is a different style of comedy to react to and a major comedy character to see more of. You summed him up perfectly by saying he's just a big kid getting into ridiculous situations. I hope Mr. Beans Holiday may make it onto future movie polls

Loved the original TV series and saw this in the cinema back in the day, it wasn’t terrible but somewhat disappointing...established TV comedy characters rarely translate well into movies. Though I quite enjoyed watching it again after all this time - I forgot the Polish artist from Ghostbusters 2 was the other main guy (forgotten his name). Bean as a character was meant to be a modern day silent film character like Charlie Chaplin...it doesn’t work as well when he talks too much. Hope the TV show wins a future poll.

Daniel French

Great reaction Josh! I've seen the film quite a few times before, but I lost it when you were laughing at the face that Bean drew!! God it was hilarious!!

Danny

The reaction to Mr Bean revealing what he has done to the painting is legit one of the funniest things of all time. When this came out I remember watching that scene over and over again for like half an hour dying of laughter

Tony Smyth

This is England is the best trilogy ever, but I'm not sure it could sit well on this channel. It gets a bit heavy sometimes. I'd love to see it, or just listen to the soundtrack...

David Lyons

Didn't expect to see Peter Capaldi in the meeting at the start! The fact that the guy who had one line in this movie would go on to play The Doctor...mental!

Anonymous

Good reaction though the scene with the turkey and Teddy at the end work better when you've watched the TV series.

Anonymous

The original tv series is quite short at around 15 episodes and more enjoyable

TheHigh

my face and belly hurts from laughing at the painting reveal lol , nice to see this again all these years later!

Thomas McDonald

Wow, I've not seen this since I was a kid. Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head when you said the mixed reception is due to the movie not matching up to the original TV show. I do prefer both Mr Bean's Holiday and the original show, but this was still very funny.

This was fun, haven't seen it since I was a kid! I remembered a few scenes quite well though, most notably the reveal of the ruined painting, and the guy's reaction, that part was hilarious! It did start a little slow though, and David's wife and daughter seemed overly unpleasant to me for most of the movie. The daughter at least was a rebellious teenager, but the wife's reaction to her husband inviting a guest to stay at the house was a bit over the top! But I guess the movie needed some more drama injected into it. It is also a bit "Americanized", compared to the series, which isn't necessarily a criticism, it just means it has as very different feel to the series, so it's understandable that fans of the source material may not like this. Overall I think it was fun, silly, charming...not perfect, but a good one to see again. Glad it was chosen.

I enjoyed the movie for what it was but, the TV show is so much better and is almost completely built around Rowan Atkinson’s ability to make any movement or gesture funny without speaking. Definitely worth watching.

(Just) Steve

My grandad used to laugh his socks off at the Mr. Bean TV show. Just seeing Rowan Atkinson's facial expressions as Bean made him laugh!

AfterWorkReactions

Awesome man I am glad you enjoyed. It is a very silly movie but I do enjoy movies like that sometimes, just something fun.

AfterWorkReactions

Thanks bud, I get what you mean sometimes shows that are from a TV show can be a bit disappointing. This was a fun movie, nothing to be taken super seriously but still enjoyable.

Jake Harrison

Great film mate, hopefully mr beans holiday comes up on the movie poll some time

Daryl

This is a whole lot of silly great fun. That moment when Bean reveals the face he's drawn on the painting. I don't know who was laughing harder, you or me. 🤣 Felt even funny laughing together. 😁

Jay

Regardless of whether anyone likes Mr. Bean or not, it's one of the most watched comedies in the world. It made Rowan Atkinson a worldwide celebrity, which was why his appearance at the London Olympics was so well received.

Anonymous

not sure if it was on the list or if you've seen it but "somthing about mary" is a pretty good/ goofy movie

JokerDanny

You should also react to Gimme Gimme Gimme, the Bottom Live shows and Dave Gorman's Modern Life Is Goodish (every episode of Dave Gorman's show is already on YouTube).

Adam C Turek

Burt Reynolds was apparently a huge Mr Bean fan so when he heard there was a movie being made he made his Agent get him a role, they probably wrote it for him tbh as his characters just shows up for no reason. Peter MacNicol who plays David was a great addition to this, the only other thing i had seen him in was Ghostbusters 2 as Viggo's lackey. It's weird to think Mr Bean and Blackadder are played by the same person.

Adam C Turek

What's funnier is the fact that someone is real life did something similar to Mr Bean with a 100 year old Jesus Painting, an inexperienced restoration attempt left it looking comical. Google search "Ecce Homo"

JokerDanny

Mr. Bean is actually an alien, the title sequence of the Mr. Bean tv show sees him being beamed down to earth from a bright light.

JokerDanny

A few of the jokes in the film are actually from the TV show, for example the bag of sick, the falling of his chair asleep and the turkey on his head.

It was good but the tv show was so different and much more funny for me

antlermagick

Mr Bean is like our version of Peewee Herman, except he doesn't speak. And he doesn't do nasty things in movie theatres.

Josip Buretic

Yes I like the movie but of course the show is even better, I really hope that the show will win the poll

Anonymous

The show is far superior to the films

Nickthegamingnerd

You really need to watch the series josh, that's bean at his finest

Saul

Josh, you seem to be a wiz at gif-ifying things - the bit on the walkway in the airport, where Bean sees the officer's gun and a look of childlike joy comes over his face at the possibility of stealing a deadly weapon...that bit is just demanding to be gif'ed. Maybe for use when people are on the verge of doing something deeply unwise.

Anonymous

I think the second film is better, it is a lot closer to the character. I think the second film is very close to the series too. I still like the first movie. The second movie being called Mr. Beans Holiday

Anonymous

The bit where it cuts to the face he drew on the picture literally made me laugh so much I nearly got a hernia lol. One of the funniest things I've ever seen. The bit where he jacks up the ride too haha
