Judy Pascoe, who played Android Camille (and voiced Blob Camille) has a background as an acrobat, part of Circus Oz (in Australia where she’s from). She’s done a couple of bits of acting other than Red Dwarf but she’s more of a writer and stand up now apparently according to IMDb but remember Robert mentioning her writing on his YouTube channel

Cat said he'd donate his body to The Louvre. It's where The Mona Lisa is kept. A vindaloo is a very hot curry and lager (a type of beer) goes very well with curry and is said to subdue the hot feeling in the mouth hence 'killing a vindaloo'.

This has the biggest retcon in Red Dwarf so far. Kochanski goes from a girl Lister never asked out, to an old girlfriend who dumped him.

Kept checking if this was up and didn't realise it was below the poll post :D

Living in escape

Red dwarf always plays fast and loose with continuity. It's terrible for that. It's a sitcom first and foremost. The first book written before the show even started though, they did have a brief relationship

I like that Lister credits 'I am what I am' to Popeye, rather than, say, God, who originally said it in the Old Testament. I've always liked Lister as a character; there's something very empathetic about him. He's very humane. He's not a macho hero, but he has a moral core that is unshakable and he consistently comes out with some very wise advice. And I like that he's such an atypical jumble of identities: black scouse guitarist, film buff, amateur philosopher, hopeless romantic. He is the fulcrum of the show. He's the richest character there.

Kat said he was leaving his body to the Louvre.. it's a huge French famous art gallery And the lager killing the curry is because a typical British night out is ended with a spicy curry and a lager is the only thing they think can help with the heat :D

Hey Josh, the reason people have stated that this episode is merely 'okay', is not to disparage this episode, it is simply to indicate that you are now entering golden age Red Dwarf, and the quality of the episodes (until the controversial series 7) are predominately very high throughout, with only Polymorph and Marooned (from series 3) being comparable in regards to humour and narrative.

Mike Doel

Good comments above :) Glen Miller is a very famous American Swing band leader/conducted from the 1940’s His plane went missing over the English Channel during the war while he was touring the UK and he was never found. PS now you see Robert without his Kryton makeup on, do you recognize him from Bottom. He was the guy at the bar with the wooden leg, ?? Take Care all

"I can't believe I'm running away from a Curried Man!!" Cat saying they should donate his body to the Louvre, it's a famous French Museum where you can find the Mona Lisa. Next Episode is one i've always liked, everyone gets to shine in it.

Hi Josh, hope you're well :) Did you recognise the human Kryten? He was in Bottom, the bloke sitting at the bar, who fought in the Falklands war and Richie and Eddie stole his false leg to pawn it to bet on the horse (Sad Ken - always makes me laugh) ? It was a while ago so maybe not lol. Lister and Kryten's friendship is always a nice part of this show imo. Pretty good episode :)

i wish people would stop telling you if the episode is good or not before you watch it, im so glad you got this episode because its a good one

Pokerpope

I can't comprehend how anyone would think this was a bad episode.

So the lager beer joke is just to say that the only thing to quench your thirst or ease the fire of eating an indian curry is beer. It's widely believed here in UK (i think true too). I loved this episode to be honest.

As a kid I had these reoccurring nightmares stemming from a scene in a show that I briefly caught whilst channel surfing one evening- the horrific scene in question was about a bizarre scenario where a man was arguing with 3 robotic heads one of which had an extremely grouchy & argumentative demeanour, I have been trying for years to remember from what cursed show this terrifying spectacle had originated- it was only after watching this react that I finally remember......😱😱😅

Interesting that some told Josh this wasn't a good episode. It was always one of my favourites. Cat fiddling with the machine while Lister panics... "Touch nothing, press nothing, find Kryten" always cracks me up.

A lot of the curry-based gags seem to go over Josh's head, although they do have it in the USA it's not a national dish like it is here and it's a pale imitation. The culture of choosing the hottest curry to show off in front of your mates or the missus, and therefore requiring several pints of Cobra to wash it down just doesn't exist. I've had friends over from the US and they are always blown away by our curry houses, the 'British-Indian' curry is a special thing indeed. Although bizarrely the best curry I ever had was in an Indian restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
