This episode was really fun , I enjoyed the jokes and story a lot.  The 7th day advent hoppists joke ,Rimmer getting kissed by uncle and ashamed of his promiscuous mom, Listers parents being brother and sister , Cat gift is just him getting rid of shit he doesn't want lol etc. This was a really funny episode with a lot of memorable moments.

I can't wait to watch this later. Is anyone else really excited for season 4 episode 5? No spoilers of course but I really think Josh is going to like that one as much as we do.

They always play a bit fast and loose with the hologram continuity. There's an outtakes special where Kryten reads out viewer mail, someone asks how Rimmer was able to smell camphor wood burning in Marooned! Just don't think too hard about it ;)

Went to watch this, got a phone call "a close member of the family just killed themselves".... is it strange to be pissed off rather than sad? Any ways I will have a longgg night :/ This is all because lockdown caused the business to shut down for good.

Its a great episode, but episode 6, Meltdown, is my favourite of series 4.

I don't think it's been established yet (but not a spoiler to explain either), but Rimmers Hologram works by using a device called a "Light Bee". It's a small metal thing that whizzes round on the spot Rimmer is standing and projects his hologram. So technically it's possible to potentially grab or shoot the light bee, destroying Rimmer. If i remember correctly, the following episode in the next series is "so so", but the rest of the series has some belters....

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. We all process emotion differently, especially at the start of any grieving process, so don't be too hard on yourself. When a close friend of mine took his own life, I was just angry. It took a while before I felt the pain. The lockdowns are diabolical, and are causing a huge increase in suicides, mental health issues, domestic violence, the loss of jobs and small businesses and the break up of relationships, and will continue to cause damage to society as a whole until there is enough push-back.

I think the party scene sums up the appeal of the show: it's not a show that makes you double over laughing, but there's something about the chemistry between these four(five w/ holly?) characters, thrown together by circumstance, forced to make the best of it, and seeing them throw a party for one of their own, and circle the wagons as soon as he gets threatened by someone else, seeing them put effort into the presents and think about how to give him a nice send off...it feels genuine, they feel like a genuine crew, and at the end of the day it's just enjoyable to spend time around these guys and to see them bond.

The idea of an eight foot tall, black clad droid with a voice like Batman putting on a pinny and doing the ship's ironing....hmmm. The company clearly went in a radically different direction when they made Kryten's upgrade. It's like Apple following up the Iphone with the T-1000

That was a genius idea really because Rimmer being a coward without the ability to get hurt was always kind of a weird thing until the bee was established.

Love this episode and it's one of the few that I actually remember the night it was shown, roughly May/June 17yrs ago when I was 11 and I remember being out with a mate and us racing home on our bikes to watch. Weird the things that stick in your mind!

Well, if you enjoy the time-travel stuff there's plenty of it in the next couple of series! The next episode works best if you've seen Casablanca but works perfectly fine without. Actually, I only saw Casablanca last year (and I loved it. Wonderful film) and I think I enjoyed it more from having watched that episode of Red Dwarf. Everyone should watch Casablanca. It's such a classic and it's actually kind of short.

I'm not sure if you're aware but that's actually Robbert Lywellyn, the actor who plays Kryten, who plays the *Divadriod International* spokesperson on the screen.
