Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!

This was a good episode thanks for letting me know to look up Myra Hindley and Peter Sutcliffe. You were right I would not have gotten the jokes without knowing who they were. Sometimes I'm asked to look up a particular person or subject before watching an episode of a show or movie and it wasn't necessary lol . So I really appreciate it when it actually is , I try to save time whenever I can . I was right it was the guy from Father Ted (Father Stone) . The drug hand off using kids at the play ground was great. I really enjoyed this episode and look forward to next weeks.

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

Aww man, only one more week of Brass Eye left!

It doesn't hugely matter, but just FYI, the band "Blouse" with the song about Myra Hindley is based on Pulp, very popular in the mid 90's this side of the world. As far as I know they never sang any love songs to serial killers but it's a decent parody! Chris Morris has done a few song parodies over the years, including a really good Pixies one. I think what makes them so good is that they seem to be "loving" parodies, he seems to understand/like the artists he's parodying, the parody songs are ridiculous but they're fairly close to the real thing! Check out either Disco 2000 or Common People by Pulp to compare

I've watched this episode many times over the past 24 years but this is the first time I've noticed the joke that the newspaper in the Irish segment is called The Cork Sword.

Did you catch Boycie from Only Fools? The actor (John Challis) was interviewed right before the end of part one

The news flash in the middle of the episode fooled some people when it was broadcast as they didn't realise it was part of the show, even when they saw the female reporter with a moustache.

Gary Tamblyn

I think this show worked better in 1996, (25 Years ago 😩) parodying the over-the-top graphic orientated News shows back then, and I guess Jeremy Paxman. There’s some brilliant bits in there, but they are separated with a lot of repetitive, pointless stuff that, these days, I think would look a lot better on the cutting room floor.

Lots of familiar faces in that one!

Steve King

Said this last week as well but the final episode was a special made four years after the original series...It was always a one off episode so not sure it's fair to say it got it cancelled as it had already been off the airwaves for a long time

Saul

I didn't like it at the time and enjoy it now, so I'm not sure I agree with you. I just think this episode was rather weak. Previous episodes have been raucously funny, this one wasn't.

I think the Hindley reference in the Blouse song is a kind of fever-meld of the 'Myra' painting that was so famous in the mid-90s, the black and white image by Marcus Harvey, and also the Manics referencing her on the Holy Bible. Combine that with Pulp's real-world predilection for arch provocation and Jarvis's habit of revealing embarrassing sexual proclivities in his lyrics and voila, you have the song in the episode

Violet Linnington

I used to have a picture of Myra Hindley in the bathroom in my old house as a tribute to this show, my landlord didn’t find it very funny 😬

(Just) Steve

- If you watch the music video of the band Pulp and their song "Common People" you'll see that the band Blouse in this episode is a clear parody of them. (mannerisms and dress sense of the lead singer Jarvis Cocker) - Peter Sutcliffe being the real life "Yorkshire Ripper" who killed many women and then being described in this episode as, "misunderstood and taking the piss". (thankfully the evil twat finally died last year) - The Noel Edmonds bit of killing Clive Anderson you'll see John Challis aka Boycie from Only Fools (sans moustache) being interviewed about it. - "Mad" Frankie Fraser was a gangster in London who spent decades in prison for robbery and violence, despite him only being about 5' 4".

One of the best little details about this episode is the thirteen backing dancers for the Sutcliffe musical. Morris and Baynham leave no stone unturned! Can't wait for next week now :D

Teddy Alison

Don’t know if you notice Boycie (John Challis) from only fools in the Noel Edmonds interview
