Dude, I don't know why I know Mark is going to make a bad decision and I am still upset and surprised lol. Like dude, you chose a druggy-drunk using you for a place to stay over a cute nerd who stood up to your Archenemy in your defense. But hey the show wouldn't be as entertaining if Mark always did the right thing lol. That was the worst birthday I have ever witnessed, your ex has a partner, your nerd girl has a partner, and your Archenemy's about to get off with your new girlfriend while everyone from work watches. Not to mention you have to pay off your best friend's stolen credit card debt lol.

This is one of the few episodes of golden era (pre-S7) Peep Show that doesn't have much rewatch value for me, I find it genuinely hard to watch because Mark is just so pathetic. It's kind of a shame, because the credit card fraud subplot with Jeremy is very funny.

Couldn't remember what episode this was before reading your summary, and now I remember it as the one that I usually skipped on rewatches! Not that I didn't find it funny, (in fact I'm looking forward to watching it now as I don't remember it as well as others), but because it get's a bit too cringy for me, and I generally love cringe comedy! Mark just gets too pathetic in this episode, and his "girlfriend" is just too unpleasant. I find it hard to believe ANYONE would put up with that shit from someone, but then again ... this is Mark Corrigan we're talking about :P

Nope, it's just not credible that anyone, never mind Mark, would genuinely choose that ghastly fuckwitted Australian over DOBBY. Dobby, of all people. The wonderful Dobby. That's like Daenerys burning down that city; nope, don't buy it.

I think this is a great episode. It is like a morality tale. Mark doesn't know or has never learned how to interact with women. He learns, in the most brutal fashion possible, that ingratiating yourself to a girl you like is not the way to go. The choice to use "When a man loves a woman" as "Their song" is really good too. Also that love and lust are two different things, its highlighted with the Dobbie situation but also with his relationship with Jez, even though he is selfish and unreliable and everything else he gets up to in this episode, Mark still in an emotional way needs him and bails him out when he could just let Johnson call the cops and be rid of him.

I'm Australian and thought "Saz" was pretty well done. The boorish, loose Aussie girl. Sometimes its easy to go over the top with foreign characters in comedy. Like Americans all being stupid or Italians being sleezebags. Not here - was prefect to highlight how bad marks choices are. She is just a polar opposite to what Mark actually wants in a relationship.!

LOL agreed this one is major cringe. Mark is very pitiful in this one, his "girlfriend" is horrible. I do like Dobby though I am looking forward to watching more of her.

I totally agree man. Mark for sure has a hard time talking to women. His relationship with Jez is interesting like you said, he gets aggravated with him because he is selfish but he also needs him in his life.

Fresh Meat is criminally underrated, I'm always surprised it never gets suggested in any of the polls. With Joe Thomas playing Kingsley it feels a bit like the story of Simon once he goes to uni. I guess it's got a less broad audience appeal being about university life. Plus a lot of people seem to really hate Jack Whitehall. Shame really because it's got a great story and characters as well as loads of funny and cringe worthy moments!

Ive just binged through the entire show in a couple days. People moan about the last couple series.... but I think they have some of the best moments. I'd say the main problem with them is Sophie was so good.... but you cannot keep dragging that on. Dobby is so annoying and I hate all the scenes with her, and I don't want to spoil anything but the Jeremy thing in season 9 makes no sense. However there isn't a drop in quality, the paintballing episode has to be one of my faves. The last two series definately have some of THE best moments.... like I said it just lacks a Sophie.
