Del was hustling his butt off lol but he shouldn't have discouraged Rodney from going after his music dream. I know he probably thinks he was doing it for Rodney's own good. The guy playing Mad Mickey did a good job that dude seemed crazy for real lol. We didn't get much of the uncle in this one. I love how grandad, uncle, and Del will hustling each other but you don't really Rodney do it. This was a decent episode I enjoyed it.

Merry Christmas to you and to everyone else. I've been in a few bands in my time, several of which never left the garage. This episode is exactly what it's often like, as accurate as the recording studio scene in Peep Show. None of the ones I was in ever had a surprise smash hit, though. And while the homophobic comments by Del Boy when talking about showbusiness were out of line, especially by modern standards, I wonder if they were perhaps a knowing reference by the writers to some of the behaviour that we now know goes on.

One of the band members was played by a young David Thewlis. He played Lupin in the Harry Potter movies. Merry Christmas!

This is one of my least favourite episodes but there are some great moments to come this series! Cannot wait until we get to season 5 & 6!!!

Love this episode! Del always trying to make a quick earner. Just a few translations for you. Stoke On Trent (A place in England, Cockney rhyming slang for bent/old term for gay), Deaf and Dumb (bum/arse).

Laughed at the joke at 6.11 but not sure you could say it now (even though it's not racist in the modern understanding). Uncle Albert says "it's not fair". Delboy says "nor is Frank Bruno's arse..." Frank Bruno is a Black British boxer, a legend for many of us in the 80s and 90s. But obviously being dark skinned and dark haired, he arse won't be fair/blonde in colour. A play on words that wouldn't be used today but isn't insensitive.

When I was a kid in the 80s this was a common joke my older sisters would say to me all the time. Being a kid I would complain that something "wasn't fair" all the time and on each occasion they would reply in unison "Nor is a black man's bum"....Why it has to be the bum/ass I dunno as any part of the body would work but it just makes it funnier. As you said, wouldn't acceptable today but also as you say not racist as it doesn't put black people down, just a pun based on a fact
