First Generation Relay Stations (Patreon)

These deep space listening posts are becoming obsolete now that humanity has joined the concordat. Now that we have permission to use the entire Jumpgate network for communication, the relay stations are slowly being decommissioned.

Their original use was to relay communications between systems and Jumpgates. A single human individual operated each relay listening post,  maintaining it and taking care of any critical repairs. These deepspace assignments were intended to last a decade before the individual would be switched out and sent home with a hefty sum of crypto credits in their account.

Recent developments in android AI's has made it unnecessary to place humans on these posts, and very few systems still have a live person onboard them. The few relay stations with humans on board have already been scheduled for decommissioning, and transports are en route to bring them back home. They will, of course, be paid in full for the original contract duration.
