I’d like to thanks Gray for making sure these episodes get in. You have got to think about all the fighters biology when it comes to training. They all train in their different ways. Yes Vegeta is pushing himself very hard even to the point of collapse. But he is a saiyan. They get stronger when they recover from being badly hurt. The closer they get to death the stronger they may become. He’s smart he knows what he must do and why he has no problem with causing himself pain. Thats why Vegeta is making large progress whereas humans don’t have that ok at least not to the extent of the saiyans. Then there’s the namekians. Have you noticed that piccolo spends a lot of his training in a meditative state. Then there’s Gohan. How much saiyan traits and biology does he have.

sooo the reason why its called dragon ball super is because its litterally 10x more of what dbz is. the comedy, the enemies, everything is super even the music is godly lol

some of the filler involves chi-chi and the rest of the crew, would highly recommend going back at least on your own time to watch it, I wouldn't mind voting on going back and seeing your reactions to the episodes missed so far

The driving episode is so iconic. By the way during training Gohan is estimated to be 6 years old so during the time skip he would be around 9 if I remember correctly. Now you are back on track with the plot that is DBZ

So gohans age...He was 4 at the start of Z, 5 against the saiyans, 6 on Namek, 7 by the time his dad got home from space. After 3 years he is now finally in double digits and ready to show these mechanical menaces what a 10 year old half saiyan can do!

I like to look at super as a mix between the zany feel of Dragonball and the serious tones of Z. It has bits form both and even filler arcs that dont really forward the plot but still fit in just as well. Side note: I think you should watch the final 2 Z movies before going into Super. Even though they are the same as the first 2 arcs, the animation quality and overall feel is amazing to witness as it had been almost 2 decades since the last DBZ movie had released (Japanese theatricals). It Truly is the best way to watch it (in my opinion) before going into the series to see it fleshed out a bit more in regular episodes. The episodes are also not too long. They realized people had seen the movies so knew that the first 2 arcs needed to be shorter than others to keep the fans entertained and looking forward to what was coming.

Demon of Empire

Pretty sure Gohan was actually 5 still on Namek in the Japanese Version, 6 when his dad got home, and 9 respectively.

Just a pre emptive note. Don't watch the opening and ending from Episodes 200-206, huge spoiler warning unlike the Vegeta super saiyan thing.

I love the Driver's License episode too much. Like some have said, Super is a combination of the memes and serious tone of both Dragon Ball and Z. It was made prior to it's manga adaptation so it's "filler" is more in spirit than anything else. The first 2 episodes of the series for example are very much in the spirit of what some would call filler; they are very slice of life style episodes.
