I will say one thing that One Piece doesn't seem talk a whole lot about is romances(at least as far as I am currently aware). Its probably because I haven't gotten to the point where such a thing is relevant but I really don't have much to go off of yet which is weird to me. That being said I think Luffy and Nami would make a cute couple. I am not necessarily sure if it would work for the story, I just like how they work off each other.

Shonen manga/anime don't do romance really. You'll have the occasional unrequited love but nothing serious until an snime ends. One exception that I can think of is Yu Yu Hakusho. Either way, once its over, I'm banking that Nami ends up with Luffy.
