NOW THIS FROM GIECO: All 3 active policies will go up after my claim (the hit and run driver in LA which they ruled me NOT at fault for in the accident…)

6 Month Policy old/new rates:

RV: $762/$912

Smart Car: $604/$722

Harley: $201/$212

26 years of CLEAN DRIVING HISTORY. Not even a speeding ticket… some jack*ss hits me and runs without a drivers license, no insurance, fake license plate, and I’m ruled NOT AT FAULT… And all my rates go up anyway before they even fix my RV… what a sick slap in the face… I’m so irritated right now. Just a colossal crap shoot company. I don’t even know what to say. Insurance is a joke.

Same thing happened to me. My car was parked AKA I was not even in it!! A drunk, uninsured driving ended up totaling both the cars and fleeing the scene. Gieco jacked my rates up $200 a cycle.

Every few years, shop around for better rates. Every company will raise rates if you have any sort of claim, even if you aren't at fault. Look for another place and you will find something cheaper. Just takes time and hassle. Even if you don't have problems, look around to see if you can score a better rate.

If you have any family that was in the military, check out USAA. They are great.

I moved my motor home insurance to Progressive this year. I’ve always found Progressive to be the lowest cost for the motorcycles. Geico is well known for raising rates or cancelling people after a crash…. They’ve cancelled people just for having a radar detector on board when the agent looked at the bike. My RV quote from American Family was twice the Progressive quote. Alway shop around about a month before the policy renews. I’ve had good luck with American Family on the houses, and stayed with them for 25 years, but other than that, always check around. That said, everyone’s insurance is going up 10 to 20 percent this year. I know people that are selling their car because of high rates. Since you’re still an escapee, I’d check with their recommended insurance agencies. They have a couple that cater to full time RVers with good rates.

I do not write or evaluate insurance policies. But I’ve been in the insurance claims industry industry for 20 years. What I do know is that it’s more than just accident that may/may not raise or reduce rates. Many factors are determined at renewal time. 1. What activity has gone on the policy and what is the risk involved. Activity means adding/subtracting vehicles and what kind of risk rating do those have. 2. Location location location. How much do you drive. 3. Traffic violations. And 4. Yes claims. Claims can mean at fault AND not at fault accidents. How much was paid. Accident repairs cost 8% more than what they did pre-Covid. Is there chance in recovery on the claim. 5. Inflation and the cost to do business. Insurance is going up across the board. I’ve worked full time from for 2 years now. I went from driving 50 miles per day for work down to less than 50 a week. It’s all about risk. The more your own the road the greater chance of hitting something or being hit. Thus, if you didn’t have insurance most couldn’t afford the liability from their own pocket. I get it - from both sides.

EVERYTHING is going up, not just insurance! Inflation is through the roof - the highest in more than 40 years!

What you did not factor in is the amount the insurance companies make for profit. I am sure it is an obscene amount. Everybody has there hand in the insurance pie, specifically the agents that make a good commission on your policy for the life of the policy. I am sure all the company officers make a hefty amount of money. I am sure the CEO's are making millions of dollars a year. When I had my house roof replaced 2 years ago Allstate declined replacing it for a year. I fought and fought. One Friday they called and said they wanted to meet with me and my roofing company and their adjuster. I made the appointment. The very next Monday I get a call saying they were paying the claim. I asked the adjuster why and she said because all the claim adjusters were told to settle claims because there was a hurricane coming into the Virginia Beach area. I live in Colorado. So I got a new roof because there was a hurricane on the east coast. What a joke.

Sorry Eric. Even when you try to do the right thing, something beyond our control happens ✌️💗

I don’t use the same insurance company for our RV as I have for the cars. If one company all of a sudden goes up, the other usually doesn’t. Be glad you don’t still have the house. Homeowners Insurance is drastically going up all over I hear.

I tried Gabi last year... maybe two years ago. https://www.gabi.com/ They did some comparisons and came back with my insurance already being the best rate I could get.
