I always use the youtube subscriptions page and just check it regularly when I feel like watching stuff, I have bad luck with notifications for this sort of thing in general

That old pair of drumsticks for $1.95, if you adjust that for inflation it comes out to ~$19 USD today, so yours are actually less expensive comparatively, funnily enough edit - and I just got to the revelation it's 60s, which would put it closer to $15-16

I agree with everyone here, we liked the drum geek video. I think it would also be cool to do a video in the future if you can get your hands on some old equipment like that and show us side by side, the quality and sound improvements we've made over the past 60 years.

I've actually played that same Slingerland kick pedal a fair bit. Surprisingly held up quite well and is a bit more honest to your technique than some newer pedals because of the rounded cam.

As someone who's done a fair bit on live sound, the history of music production/tech is something I'll always be interested in. Keep showing us nerd stuff, we're all giant audio nerds (or just here for the chaotic vibe. Either is good.)

The beauty of percussions is that you really can hit anything. I really like the sound an acoustic guitar makes when you tap on its back. Even used it in a recording once, much to the dismay of my guitar player

Half way through I can't stop thinking of the drums in the song Take Five. My dad was a Dave Brubeck fan, and I played drums in high school. My fav sticks were 747s with wood tips. Yup, drum geek.

I suggest Slipknot for some great drumming. The songs 'sic', 'duality', and 'before i forget' are mighty scrumptious. Also, 'Blind' by Korn has some low bass and some high hats

Goddamn do I love Slingerland drums. My main snare is an old steel student 14x5 model with a Kevlar marching head on top of a hazy diplomat snare side. It has absolutely no ringyness like other steel snares I've heard.
