Panzer IV

Anonymous

Anonymous

My work still has those mice kicking around. To be honest I was kind of hoping fora review of the dick smith 3 from the main show... it looks really close to the Samsung YP-U6 that I loved to death. I wonder if it plays in order of file name or by orde rof copy?

Anonymous

Good vid as usual

Anonymous

does dank already have a discord? I’m new here 🤷🏻‍♂️

Anonymous

Great vid! Wasn't the jazz speakers the same as the ones you reviewed once? Lol, they sounded like butts.

Anonymous

*Shows 40 pack of AA Batteries* "That's like a weeks worth of GameBoy!" Me: Or like 5 solid hours of Game Gear. lol

Anonymous

Wap: Well Appreciated Products.

Anonymous

good ol' dick smiths. pour one out for their physical storefronts that were just gradually chased away by jb hi-fi and harvey norman...

Anonymous

I want to see these cassette and CD players now!

Sebastian K.

please tell us more about that old mercedes

Anonymous

Man that PC at 1:57, that was our first family PC. Wish we still had it somewhere, would love to build a sleeper rig in that monstrosity of a case.

Anonymous

hopefully this year will be better

Anonymous

Oh the nostalgia but the prices holy hell

Anonymous

Book after shows are officially some of the best. This and the iPods for dummies or whatever have been some of my favorites.

Anonymous

I think he'd be hilarious trying to work on a car 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but hey I got free coupon codes from this video🤣

Anonymous

The fact that it has a 40gb hard drive for 300 bucks but I literally JUST got back from the store to get a 4TB hard drive for 120

Anonymous

Heck yeah, still got my grey bedside radio from in there

Anonymous

They've been bought out by kogan pretty sure or one of those online tech bizzos. Websites are just copy paste

Anonymous

4:40 WAP before it's time...

αlticia βakro

lately i absolutely loved reminiscing about past and this is just what i needed, thanks mate

Anonymous

I always liked to imagine some mythical blacksmith who forged penises when walking past a Dick Smith, but now they're gone :(

Anonymous

Hey man! Cool vids this week. I’d love to see some content with old mate Merc if that’s something you’re into. Whatever, Cheers!

Anonymous

Mr. Dankpods can you PLEASE make videos about your cars/bikes?? I WANNA HEAR ABOUT THE BATTLE BETWEEN YOU AND OL MATE MERC!

Anonymous

Please do a video on your Mercedes! You showed a w126 SE and if you have any questions about these cars, I've rebuilt 2 of them!! Converted my USA spec 560sel to full European with all the upgrades! Love the channel and long live the chungus pods!

Anonymous

why does the guy look like RBG

Anonymous

why did it say wap next to the man on the phone

Anonymous

the my biggest fans joke killed me. and i have no idea why.

Anonymous

I was having a bad day. Two new DankPods videos later and I am no longer having a bad day.

Anonymous

That colossal MP3 player is amazing! Random idea how about replacing some of the components (i.e. speaker) to make it sound actually decent?

Anonymous

Luckily i checked my email! Have been waiting for a new episode for soooooo long

Anonymous

I actually love the ollosal nugget, 11/10 would use it as a shell and put in insides that wont be just suck :D

Anonymous

Dude you should totally show us your RC cars and that Mercedes!

Anonymous

how did you fail to mention toilet roll radio haha !

Kim Gaetjens

Dick Smith stores had a certain smell to them. The stench of cheap electronics.

Anonymous

And I had too say wap didn't it

Anonymous

Turn the mega nugget into a really good AMP/DAC with a touchscreen with James the bird saver! It'll be so cool and actually useful to you (to a degree) maybe mod bluetooth into it too, the case is large and flat enough that an iPod's guts could easily fit.

Bobby

Please make a mini series of this! I love old/vintage ads for old tech and your commentary was just *chef kiss*

Anonymous

Ah nice to see what came out the year I was born... sorry to make you feel old lol

OzRetrocomp

There's no Dick like old Dick.

Anonymous

I bought a Sony Walkman cassette player yesterday off eBay. Would love to see videos on the ones you have around!

Anonymous

kyocera makes some printers now, I'm not sure what else :)

Anonymous

RIP Maplin (UK version of Dick Smith)

Anonymous

They also make ceramic knives. Make that everything ceramic. If its the same Kyocera.

Anonymous

Back in my day, I used to go to Dick Smith for electronic bits, they were actually good! I've got some old electronics magazines from the 80s that had Dick Smith ads, might see if I can scan some in!

Anonymous

I graduated high school in 2002. This vid is full of some incredible memories (even if I wasn't in Australia). A+ quality Patreon content!

Anonymous

i believe they're still online and getting some PS5 stock soon

Anonymous

looking at some of this stuff made the nostalgia hit hard

Anonymous

Do you still have the Honda City Turbo II after your got the Mercedes?

Anonymous

Managed to finally get a dollarydoo to sub to your patron mate.

Upex

theres a kyocera printer at my work

Anonymous

Well that was a lot of fun. I remember inheriting my older sis's actual discman when she adulted into a proper MP3 player. Kicked the pants off my Memorex that only have 2-5 sec. ESP.

Anonymous

I used to work for Verizon Wireless here in America and I can confirm that Kyocera is still around and still makes flip phones. And awful smartphones if I remember correctly.

Anonymous

Good old Dick. I've been digitising old VHS tapes for the ads and having a good laugh at classics like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VM466P79-Mk

Anonymous

What a total throwback. I miss dick smith in a weird sort of way, just ain’t the same as it used to be.

JDoawp

You got a whole stack of tape players? Would love to see some reviews of them! I love cassette players and everything about them.

Anonymous

I need that digitor tv

Anonymous

This is the best $1 a month I could possibly spend!

Anonymous

Dick smiths and Tandys were the thing back in the day, now you only have Jaycar

Anonymous

I also had a purple gameboy colour

Anonymous

That IBM laptop has macOS on it and I think I had this catalog

Anonymous

Used to love flicking through these as a kid. And going to the store every weekend.

Anonymous

You have boxes full of everything eh?

Anonymous

I used to flip through the best buy ads that came with the paper back in the day checking out all the cool tech. I'd have been in heaven if they had a huge catalogue like this.

Anonymous

God I miss that local Dick Smith that everyone had

Anonymous

Good ol dickie

Anonymous

I was legitimately going to comment exactly that till I saw yours... Get out of my head.

Anonymous

The guy at 3:32 looks like the Shamwow guy 😂

Anonymous

Oi mate I need a PX625 battery for me camera could you have a squiz in the catalogue to see if they have any? Would go to me local shop but the phone book doesn't have them anymore it's weird. Man I miss Dick Smith though, 2002 was right around the time I first remember going to the Power House that was near me and it just used to be the coolest shop ever. Was pretty sad seeing it slowly decline over time, and when they rebranded all the Dick Smiths the stock just IMMEDIATELY got thinner and thinner until it closed up.

Anonymous

I have multiple of those landlines hanging around the house looking all nice and yellowed

Anonymous

How is Your New Merc doing is it good

Anonymous

Probably my favourite After Show episode ever! Would love to see more stuff like this in the future

Nakey

they stopped selling electronic stuff about 5-7 years after this catalogue. shame really (they pulled the data info out the back of their catalogues at the same time). i learned electronics from their Funway series. jaycar doesnt have anything to compare with Funway 1 (my daughters wants to learn) Those Powerhouses were the start of the end.

Anonymous

WHOAAA i was fixing my rc car watching this, no idea mr dank liked them too

Anonymous

i was working on my rc watching this and was so shocked when he said he was into them!

OzRetrocomp

Some dude bought the rights to the Funway IP from the DSE liquidators a few years back, and he's set up a website. Looks like he's trying to get some of the Funway kits back into production, but not much seems to have happened over the last couple of years. Try searching "Funway Electronics" (idk if Patreon would flag it as spam if I left the link here).

Anonymous

please make a "Killer" mojo sticker I beg of you

CnP x

This is so much better then audible !

Chloe Surett

I got the Hurr Durr six hundos a while ago and I love them. Thank you. Also could you upload lossless recordings when you do the freak head recordings so I can fully experience suck

Anonymous

I keep wanting to ask what make and model your speaker is. I feel I need a speaker with an aussie accent

Anonymous

That's an EFM Toledo and it sounds just as good in person.

Anonymous

Thanks everyone

Anonymous

I remember portable cassette players too but that wasn’t my time. CD players were where it was at.... until like 2005 when everyone brought MP3 players to school. I actually won a CD player in an arcade machine and I remember how excited I was because the only portable player we owned belonged to my brother. Not gonna lie, this catalog (not catalogue haha) brought back memories to me too.

Anonymous

Kyocera makes some pretty good stuff nowadays, pretty durable, and cheapish.

Anonymous

please please please do a video on the oversized airpod pro speaker. it looks ridiculous and has a micro sd card AND a usb port, fm radio, and “hifi ohyeah!”

Anonymous

I used to love flicking through the Argos catalogues as a child in the UK. AND THEN THEY SCRAPPED IT. Unforgivable... Also, how close did that family really need to be to that TV! Gotta love that SD quality.

Anonymous

i still have one of those spell check things lol (it’s called being a nerd in primary school and winning spelling bees = weird and nerdy prizes)

Anonymous

$4000 for a Compcrap Presorryo...my god how times have changed!

Anonymous

Check out the battery list at 5:14 - you've got "AA"s, "AAA"s, and there's even "AAAA"s! I now need to hear how Mr Dank pronounces "AAAA". 😄

Anonymous

Do you think you might review the Bose sleepbuds II? I’m really interested in a set of headphones that I can lay on my side with.

Anonymous

Sad thing about those is you can’t even play your own stuff on them… just their “sleep sounds”

pissgoat

you should review more "free" wish headphones or audio equipment that would be funny

Anonymous

I just won an auction on a mint 80GB Ipod Classic for around 50€ im so excited :D

Anonymous

Oh man remember when Dick Smith was an actual store you could go to and not just Kogan's second website? Good times.

Anonymous

At 1:24 you can see WAP on the page. That's a Wet Ass Page. Sorry I ruined this video for you

Anonymous

Really glad i decided to watch this. This is one of my favorite videos of yours now please keep going dude you deserve more my single dollar a month

Anonymous

I'm from the US. I opened up my companies label maker to change the batteries only to find 4 PKCELLs inside and I was genuinely excited to see and keep them. My boss looked at me funny.

Anonymous

All hail king frank.

Painhertz

Bought a pair of Samson SR850s cuz you said so. While chatting up my wife during quarantine disco in the kitchen Friday night, I mentioned I need a new pair of headphones to avoid disturbing her while I'm teaching myself to play the piano. She said, "What's wrong with the ones you have? (Sennheiser HD 202)" "They're crap and they hurt my ears." "How much are the new ones?" "42 dollars" "Go away."

Anonymous

im so happy i did this EXTRA CONTENT YAY!

Anonymous

Kyocera is still around; they are a pretty big brand in the world of office photocopiers.

Anonymous

Do you plan on reviewing Amazon's new "High Fidelity" 3D audio smart speaker? Its called the Echo studio.

Anonymous

we still had those og Microsoft mice at my high school till 2015

Anonymous

poor franklin...

Anonymous

How do I become a model for Dick Smith

Anonymous

How do I become a model for Dick Smith

Anonymous

I actually have/had one of those remotes you were talking about, although I have literally no clue where it is

Anonymous

Kyocera made phones????? The same company that makes ceramic knives now pretty sure

Anonymous

I had a Crown portable cassette player. Man I wish I hadn't chucked it.

Anonymous

Oh hey, I was born that year!

Anonymous

Why is this not called the Only Fans... or maybe FAnS Only?

Anonymous

It's amazing how fast some technology moves and how some doesn't move at all.

Anonymous

Kyocera make kitchen knives now, or at least they're the company that made the ones I have

Anonymous

"How old are you really?" *slams a dick smith catalogue on the table in front of you*

Anonymous

I think we still have a kyocera printer in the office...

Anonymous

EEEEEEEEEESMS

Anonymous

YOOOOO Age of Empires II & Empire Earth were THE game back in the day

Anonymous

I live by a kyrosera building

Loonie Lummox

Dick Smith looks like a wonderful place. Cherish those legit Electronics stores. Fry's finally died after 3 years of being in life support, but my goodness it was the best back in the day

Anonymous

It's an online store like Kogan nowadays it just resells consumer electronics. JayCar sell more components, hobby kits and professional stuff.

Anonymous

I remember using that exact white Microsoft mouse on an old Windows 98 desktop my parents had years ago.

Anonymous

Dick Smith sounds like someone who manufactures uhh Dicks

Anonymous

Eyyyy I’m not the only dingus with nitro RC! Got my Traxxus Nitrosport

Anonymous

I had that first Sony CD player you pointed to! I think I got it at Boots when I went to England. It lasted about 4 years, and then I got my Sony Sports Walkman CD player because I wanted to listen to the radio. Still have that one!

Anonymous

Omg, I still have that Sony walkman CD, the one for $183.00 its my main player for good listening lmao

YamiSpyro

Oh god the old Dick Smith logo is horrifying, but i do miss the stores here in NZ

Anonymous

as a seppo with no connection to Dick Smith it sounds like a dildo manufacturer.

Anonymous

"im going to make a catalogue that is so 2000's" - the person who made the catalogue, probably

Anonymous

This book is wonderful, especially the last bit. Perfect for a electrical hobbyists.

Anonymous

I tried one of the coupons, I was arrested on the spot

HorizontalVertigo

You have to remember to chuck Nollsy's "What About Me" on the pub jukebox every now and then, just to keep ol' mate Dazza fresh

Anonymous

I still don't understand what wap is...

Anonymous

Ah yes! Those radio alarm clocks. They were already perfected back then, the basic features should be BEEP BEEP or being able to wake up to the radio. Some of them that I've tried that has been produced later do the thing where they think that they needed to add unnecessary "features" that essentially just was there to to make everything extra contrived. Seems like they did that a lot around the decade shift 10's, trying to invent the wheel on stuff that should have simple controls. Like, I have a low end microwave, does it have any of the following buttons; "power" or "time"? Of course not, there's a lot of random buttons, and there's two that's "10g" and "100g". Thanks. To use it I press the huge white circle in the middle that says "Jet start", which starts the microwave on max for 30 seconds. Thanks, what if I just want to run it on low for a couple of seconds (like if I'm melting chocolate or something?) Then I need to find the manual to figure out how to how to even set lower power and specify time. Couldn't they just have added all those extra "features" that I don't care to use anyway while also keeping the stupid simple standard controls as well? Telling you, around the turn of the decade 2010, they tried to rebrand already cheap and optimal user friendly controls with new "features" and "useability" to get a competitive edge in their "usefulness". But that's reinventing the wheel. I bought a somewhat cheaper alarm clock ~5 years ago, and there's just five buttons on it that you remember how to use easily without the need to pull up the manual (not optimal due to cutting costs I guess, and even though changing the time or the alarm can feel like a bit of a hassle it only has buttons for stopping, snoozing, and then adjusting time. And the (probably extremely cheap easy to read and big display.) All it ever needs for basically everyone that buy it. Nobody wants to feel like they have to struggle to adjust their settings on their toaster. The traditional style that we are used to is what sells, even though the radiant control type of toasters (commercially available in the 60's) are actually way better since the control knob adjusts at which surface temperature the bread will pop up (its color basically) instead of just time/power. Some technology has already peaked/plateaued and should be regarded as such. Stupid companies trying to sell is "improved" versions of such tech >:O

Anonymous

I had a Purple game boy color too! Atomic purple and the speaker hasn't worked for at least 15 years

Anonymous

Heya, not sure how it is in SA but Jaycar is worth looking into, a lot of mediocre to average to handy things have come from Jaycar. Apparently the old Jaycar catalogues are very 'of the times', some stores keep them still... Ask around ;)
