Birthday! (Patreon)

After the worst possible gig, I was having a hard time being enthusiastic about much of anything so I spent most of my birthday working, but my birthday would not allow me to be depressed.

Sort of by accident, my boyfriend, parents, uncle, and my friend Nathan, all came together to get me a new computer, with apple care, and hardshell case, and a second hand ipad. Which is fucking amazing and totally unexpected and the full magnitude of that didn't hit me until this morning. The greatest gift the world has ever given me is my amazing support network and I honestly can't ever be thankful enough for it.

My present to myself was three hours to get dressed up, and you can see the results above. Making costumes is something I do all the time so I didn't really want to put together a specific costume, but I had a really great time with the creative act of throwing together something from my closet, and watching American Horror Story while I spent entirely too much time on my makeup. It was really fun, and brought back some of the joy I used to feel when I was a teenager, getting dressed up and putting on makeup for no reason other than it was fun.

Walking down the street in full makeup and regalia felt a little magical. I've never really thought of myself as goth, exactly, but the weirdo in me goes straight to the bone and expressing that loudly, walking around looking like I'd come from another world, I felt the most ME I've felt in a really long time.
