I've been thinking about doing hyper queen for a long time and I heard about Spring Chickens, a show specifically for new drag performers, and figured this was a good way to experiment.

TBH, after doing burlesque, drag kind of seems like cheating. Yes, you need a great costume, but you only need ONE. You don't have to worry about how it comes off or how it layers over anything. It kind of seemed to easy.

But I know I have a hard time doing over the top makeup, so I figured that would be a challenge. And then Maggie reminded me that my acting style is *very* subtle and Drag is very much NOT. So I realized that this is actually a really good performance challenge for me.

As always, I'm terrible at decisions so I thought I should video myself improvising to the songs I'd narrowed it down to and see if anything interesting shows up.

Luckily, I cut it down to the best bits for you.

The songs I most liked my acting in were Ship to Wreck, Celebrity Skin, Dirty Rich, Milkshake, and I Love U.

I liked the Marilyn Manson/Gwen Stefani mash up but I think someone may have already done that joke?

I really like the genderfuckery of doing Hyper Queen to Eminem but maybe that's too high concept? Also, some of the more problematic lyrics are also really badly written and therefore doubly embarrassing to say (or even pretend to say.) And I don't think it'll work if I'm not FULLY committed to the performance.

Right now I think I'm leaning towards Celebrity Skin and Milkshake. Of course those are the most diametrically opposed characters and I only have 15 minutes to change so.... we'll see.
