"In the eyes of a saint, I'm a stranger" as Klaus realizes Elijah doesn't recognize him. They could not have picked a better song for this finale, absolutely perfect

Something that i noticed about Hayley's character that I don't like is that to me it feels like her personality is inconsistently written- and to be fair for disclosure she's never one of my favorite character but to me it feels like her character's actual feelings and motivations are entirely plot driven and not character driven in a way that gives her agency....So when the plot requires her to help the Mickealsons and either save them or maintain their entire family like she did at the end of S3 and wait for them for years, then she's totally on board with them, and part of their family claims that the terrible things that Elijah does is justified to protect his family and excuses it etc-- But as soon as the plot requires something else like here, it feels like they shoehorned in this storyline and on the turn of a dime it goes to her reconsidering everything to do with Elijah and considering him an immoral monster that she can't accept to feel for, and trying to run away with Hope (again) and decrying the fact that the family are murderers and can't be allowed to live around Hope....-And i'm not claiming one position is right and the other has no merit, i'm simply saying the problem is the flip flop which feels very inconsistent and is a change that occurs again and again from season to season and it's a repeat storyline that they can't get away from- It's more of a problem of finding what to do with her I feel, but sometimes I feel like they are flip-flopping her character attributes and feelings to retroactively justify the plot and in the meantime not giving a shit about Elijah which is when her character is at it's worse. It's always about her, in their couple she never gives an ounce of consideration to how Elijah feels it seems...But that's just me

Yeah, I'll never forgive the writers for this tbh... They never just let Klaus and Hope be together. We don't want them separated, we want them to just be able to be a family! It's so unfair! Elijah erasing his memories hurts, but it makes so much sense. He can not risk not being able to stay away from Klaus. Though it seems Klaus isn't able to just be away from Elijah either, he of course had to go check on him. Make sure he's safe and happy. And as much as it hurts, there's always part of me that's just happy for Elijah. As much as he loves his family, and as much as they love him and as much as I love them, it is just great to see him unburdened from everything. He's no longer ruled by his love for his family. He can just be happy in whatever way that is for him. He's no longer solely focused on Klaus' redemption. He's no longer his family's keeper. He can just live however he wants. And I love that Marcel went to be with Rebekah. I honestly think that his talk with Klaus is what made him finally feel able to. He got that closure he needed, and finally felt like he could just be himself without feeling he had to live up to something for Klaus. And I think he also probably finally felt he had Klaus' blessing, which it's made obvious in that scene that he always kinda wanted it when he said that he's not good enough for Rebekah. I think that closure is what allowed him to finally leave New Orleans and just be with Rebekah because he finally had Klaus' approval there. I think that's what made him realise that he was wasting his time with New Orleans when he could be with the woman he loves.
