This episode marks how much Bonnie and Caroline changed compare to the beginning in season one. At the end of the day the show aim is partially met, if you manage to put yourself in the shoes to any “monster” there are lots of things to be understand, not everybody you think is a monster because it is not what you are used to it is, the culture of hatred is never a g sustainable way of living if you are a decent person, and there is always room for love, compassion and understanding that some people life might have been full of traumas, hardships, and that those people have motivations to act out. So before judging, think of how you would have act if you had the same life, the same choices. And that is why now Bonnie is so totally overlapping Damon’s story, alone and misunderstood by her family generous hearted Bonnie fund love a love for which turning into a vampire to be with him for eternity is worth considering. Caroline on the other hand is another story. She, as Elena before her, has always been totally blind to Stefan worse side and because his self loathing he got away with more thing than any character of the show got away with, and the way he had it more easy then others when it comes with accountability, made him, among other things, very entitled, been put on a pedestal by your parents, by the women e encounter, by his brother, by the women he loved, gives you a false prospective of who you are and what you are allowed to do without consequences. So Caroline that always thought that Stefan is the most perfect man ever, is confronted with his worse self, and his big imperfections, comparing his love for her and the love that Damon has for Elena that made him fight and be able to rebel, contra try to Stefan that once turn his humanity off turned into, as Damon called him: “a ripper douche” someone that above anybody enjoy his ripper side, enjoy his worse manipulative way, enjoy toying with his victims, being wicked and twisted. Stefan is not fighting for her; he is fully embracing his ripper side with zero internal conflict. Caroline, as Elena before her, is confronted with the difference between Damon and Stefan in the capacity for love and how hard they are willing to fight for the love of their life. She is recognising that Damon and Elena love is so powerful, pure and real to overpower any other thing, is happening because she saw firsthand, how Enzo and Damon fought and how Stefan is not. Her love for Stefan just came down from the pedestal and became real. When you truly love someone you don’t love blindly someone just for their good side, but you have to be aware of the bad side and make the conscious decision to be on board with the entirety of that person. So she did, she is now fully conscious and on board. That is why I think that Stefan and Caroline’s love is true love, because she is able to look objectively to his bad side and still love him and still cope with the consequence of Stefan’s actions and take them as a unit. She grew a mile more in this episode.

@bella She would have look at Stefan twice if Damon didn't compelled her to forget they meet first. Damon never reply to his brother back as he should, because he is not as mean as Stefan, even with his humanity off.
