So let's get into season 2!!! What an opener! I mean we got to see Darla and then Angel signing Mandy and jousting another guy on a horse and yeah this sweet scene between him and Cordelia 😍 and most importantly I got to see my girl Faith. I mean what' not to love about this episode.

You think the bit in the mirror is bad, the very end of the opening credits you can see Angel walking down an alley with his reflection in the water. And that scene stays the entire length of the series.

The 'powers that be' aren't dead. the Oracles are dead, who were like the connection/communicators to the powers.

So the beings that Vocah killed were The Oracles, described in the show as one of Angel's connections to powers, the other being Cordelia. It was those connections to the Powers that he was trying to take from Angel. Admittedly it's a relationship that could perhaps be spelled out for the viewer a little better in my opinion and for myself anyway it was something that became clearer on subsequent rewatches and I kinda stumbled over it the first time also. Hope that helps, keep you the great work

Well Cordy got better at acting because of what happened to her in the last episode of s1; all the pain she felt from the people in distress helped her to become so much more empathetic 🥰

I like this opener. I love the Host of Caritas is designed like a literal “Lounge Lizard”. Just a note to forgive any technical oopsies at the sides of the screen. This season was aired in 4:3 format so the mirror stuff in the beginning was cropped out. The season was never released on DVD or streaming in anything other than widescreen though so the original format is hard to find. There’s another mirror goof earlier in that scene that’s only seen because of the widescreen release- Angel can be seen on the right side of the screen waiting to join Cordy and Wesley when they are seen walking in the mirror

Huh, that’s weird - I posted this comment on here yesterday morning, but it seems to have disappeared. Love seeing reactions to this episode - Angel singing, Faith at the end, Gunn being a regular and seeing how the relationship between Angel, Cordy and Wesley is developing.. so great :). I find the tribunal storyline drags a bit, but all the other great moments make up for it :). The unfortunate thing about Season 2 originally being aired in the US in 4:3 but being released in 16:9 on the DVD is that in the 16:9 version you can see things that were not supposed to be seen on camera... like Angel's reflection in the mirror after killing the demon, and also earlier in that scene when Angel, Wes and Cordy are walking through the gym, and we see that Angel has no reflection as they walk, you can actually see David standing off to the side and then moving to join Cordy and Wes halfway through… when the episode was broadcast (in 4:3) those mistakes were off-screen so you didn’t see them, but in the widescreen DVD version, they’re all visible! Small addition to my original comment: I just realised that you stopped the episode before the extra scene over the credits at the end… if you haven’t already seen it, it would be cool to see your reaction to it :).
