No need to apologize for making us wait ... but it is okay if we camp outside your place like ravenous fiends waiting, right? 😛

That Scene at the end is a top 10 moment in the show Also, real rain in the end :)

Since you love Eliza, sounds like you have to add Dollhouse to your list of show reactions.

The connection between Faith and the flashbacks to Angel's past can be taken a few ways, I think. To me, there is a parallel between Angel and Faith. Right after Angel got his soul and started to remember all the evil he did, he just wanted it to end. He just wanted to die. We saw that in the flashbacks of him in Buffy in the Christmas episode Amends. Faith also wanted to end it. She was trying to commit suicide by vampire to end her own pain. There is another connection, but I can't tell you yet. As to why he went back to Darla and why she threw him out. Angel went back to Darla hoping she had some way to help him get rid of his soul or turn him back into a proper vampire. Darla threw him out because she would see his having a soul, and therefore being more like a human, as a betrayal. She would be afraid of him because he might want to kill her now, or because he is potentially on the wrong side. He is not one of them now.

I think the reason for the flashbacks was to show the viewers that Angel has empathy for Faith because he also understands how it feels to kill a bunch of people and to then be overwhelmed by guilt for those murders... Also, when she was fighting Angel and said no one could take her, Spike definitely would have killed her if she had been the Slayer in Sunnydale during season 2. Just saying.

Ever since Alexis Denisof started on Buffy, his comedic talents were obvious, but in 1x14 ("I've Got You Under My Skin") and this episode, we really start to see how well he can do dramatic as well.

I believe when the episodes originally aired they didn't feature the titles

I left my above comment before watching your whole afterthoughts thing, because I thought if I didn't, I would forget what I wanted to say. But watching your thoughts now, I see you just answered your own question. LOL "Angel is the only one who can understand her. Because he knows what it is like to hate himself. He even tried to kill himself." Bingo. That's the connection. That's the parallel. I can see what you mean when you say that it would have been nice to have some Faith flashbacks. But being that Faith's past involves child abuse (and going by her reaction to sex with Riley, probably rape) they may not have wanted to show flashbacks of her because, one, it's too triggery for many, and two, it's very hard to pull off showing abuse without coming across as too poor me, or too emotionally manipulative. A few other thoughts. When Faith started begging Angel to kill her. Your face. OMG, the moment the penny drops. Chefs kiss indeed. Also, I agree, I love Wesley in this episode. And Elisa. Both shone like stars here. Also, also, As to when Angel knew that Faith wanted him to kill her and when he knew that was her motive. I was going to say that he realized it during the fight because of some of the things she says. She was egging him on before she was begging him. But, actually, I wonder if he realized it a lot sooner. He may have realized it in his office when she gave him the gun so that he could kill her. One of the bullets was a blank, but the second was not. He may have realized then that she gave him the gun, not just to mess with him, but because she actually wanted him to do it.

Yes. I believe people only knew what they were when they bought the tapes or DVDs, which had the titles in order to help people remember which episode was which. That's why some of them are so spoilery. They're like reminders.

Roy Ben-Ami

They mention in the commentary that they got lucky and it was raining when they shot this.

This is Eliza Dusku’s (Faith) best episode for me and when I first watched Buffy/Angel I didn’t understand her up until the final scene in the alley as sad as it is to say because for the first time I finally realised I related to what she’s going through. You’re absolutely right that Faith wasn’t “evil” when she arrived at Sunnydale (BTVS S3), but simply reckless and carefree. She did however have underlying issues of her own which only exacerbated the issues that came from the event of the accidental murder. It didn’t help that none of the authority figures did enough to aid her. How was she paying for that motel? Does she have some sort of income? How is she eating? None of the questions that came to mind from anybody, so naturally she gravitated to the Mayor. Now don’t get me wrong, she’s not completely innocent herself, you’re the product of your environment and you know right from wrong, her actions are not justified, but understandable. I think Angel caught on when he went to see Cordelia and was told “he wasn’t in the game” implying she wanted something from him. Anyways like you said I could go on and on about Faith as she’s such a layered character and I completely agree that I wish we could’ve gotten some background on Faith, it would’ve really helped the audience see things through her eyes which gives you a completely different perspective. ❤️

When I was editing the episode I felt like he knew the moment when he found Cordelia and told him that she took Wesley because he didn't want to play with her.

i looooooove when Eliza gets the recognition she deserves because the slander on her acting you hear sometimes damn...

Phoenix Dawn

Even though Faith is a bit bratty, that end scene always kills me! *cries* Eliza does it!

Bisibia

The makeup for Faith in this one was so spot on... as was your reaction. The rain in the last scene was actually not planned, just a happy accident. Probably Eliza's best acting performance to this point. Maybe Alexis too... and definitely the best fight scene in the show so far. Best episode of Angel yet.

There's something wrong with the link. It just takes me to a 404 screen.
