I Am Not Chamari

I think Lucas is a total dumpster fire right now, but I also appreciate that he always seems to know when he's wrong and his apologies towards the end of the episode all felt very sincere. His apology to Brooke would obviously turn out the way it did, but the boy still does have a conscious and tried to make many things right at the end of the episode. In regards to Nathan, he's making the best choice for himself, I think. His parents royally screwed him over and he just found out his mom, from his view, left him to his father for some random man. However, something that I always forget is that Dan and Deb are super young parents - they are ~34 with a teenager, which means that Deb made a mistake when she was still relatively young. I really hope Deb and Nathan at least, can get their relationship back on track, or develop a new, more meaningful one. The Jake and Peyton scenes are really sweet, but to me, it always felt like it was a way for Peyton to avoid all of the drama. Doesn't mean it's not real, whatever is going on between them now, but it feels like hiding to me.

I'm completely with Nathan getting emancipated. While Deb was now trying, she wasn't for a long time. There was a long time where she was always away for work in order to avoid Dan, and in the process left Nathan to deal with him alone. And to find out that at some point, it wasn't even for work, it was for some random guy she met? That must be horrible. Nathan's gonna struggle to trust her after that. If she was able to just abandon him with Dan for a stranger once, what's stopping her from doing it again? Right now, he needs to be away from all the toxicity, and unfortunately, that does include Deb, as much as she's trying to be better. He doesn't feel like he can depend on her. Plus, if a judge thought he had a case for emancipation from both parents, there must be something wrong there...
