I love this episode. So many twists and turns. Damon and Elena ship name is Delena. Now you understand why Vicki was confused about wanting to go to the toilet, yet Stefan seemed to not think it strange. This is probably the only vampire show where they actually have to go to the loo. There are 8 seasons of TVD and 7 combined seasons to their spin offs (there will be another season of the latest one). I think the stalking is a bit strange, although I do understand why. Elena has shown Damon a lot of compassion since the start of the show. In 1x3 she said she was sorry for him losing Katherine. She stopped Stefan from killing him after he killed Lexi. Yet she fights with him. She's slapped him twice and shows no fear, despite knowing how ruthless he is. She isn't phased by him and she treats him like a person. As you can probably guess, not many people are compassionate towards Damon, and I think he finds it intriguing and refreshing. Does he like her because she looks like Katherine? I would say no because it is clear he loves Katherine and easily distinguishes the two as being completely different. If he feels anything for Elena, it is more likely to be based on her compassion. You finally saw the caring side of Damon (he does have one). The fact that he is motivated by love suggests he is more than caring, as it is the same woman, it shows he's very loyal. I agree with you on the innocence of Stelena. It screams out first teenage love. There is also the Twilight issue of unless Elena turns fairly soon, she's going to outgrow Stefan. You are right, there is no chance of a Bella Swann style pregnancy. Much to the disappointment of many. I can imagine Lexi would have made a good mum. The reveals at the end are just one bombshell after another. None of them are expected, although Stefan does start the show with "I have to know her." Which suggests he knows about her. But in the pilot, Damon was hanging around Elena too. When Bonnie took Elena to school, Bonnie was about to predict something about Elena and the bird hit the windscreen. The bird was Damon. He was also watching her in the cemetery when it went foggy and the bird showed up again. You see his shadow behind one of the statues as she's running. He makes it clear to Stefan he knows about her and even knows her name. I'm guessing Damon was probably stalking Stefan and was curious to see what he was up to and why he was staying so long in Mystic Falls. As far as Damon was aware, only he knew about Katherine being in the tomb. Maybe he was concerned Stefan had found out and was trying to get Katherine out of the tomb himself. Elena being adopted is an interesting twist, as is the fact of Stefan saving her. The one thing I don't like about that scene is that Stefan never apologises for lying to Elena. He changes the subject and drops the bombshells so that she forgets why she was so angry with him in the first place. Great reaction. Looking forward to the next one. Take care. I loved this episode and I still love it after all these years. Initiating contact after learning everything about someone is creepy, though Stefan isn't a creepy guy - I guess people's biases affect how forgiving they are for the characters, and those biases are mostly from the chemistry they see. I was in the tumblr tvd fandom when it was airing and people were real nasty towards other shippers/stans. I always saw more chemistry between damon and elena, like in this episode had tons of chemistry - it kinda looked like a very successful first date, even though he kidnapped her. But, I do think they became friendlier now. btw, they dropped some of the vampire powers - they never control fog or crows again and doesn't attack people from above as if they were flying.

This show is really good at dropping hints/revealing things in subtle ways. There was the Tyler hint last episode with the full moon and in this episode, we know Alaric does take off his ring and didn't have it on in the daylight, which means he cannot be a vampire! Very clever writing.
