This is when the season really starts to pick up. Jesse has grown a lot since Season 1, but he still has moments like this where he's a tremendous screw-up. However, Jesse didn't know Hank was following him, so I'll cut him some slack there.

Consider the comparison between Walt and Hank. When Walt was about to make the biggest break of his career, in doing his first million dollar deal with Gus, he chose meth over immediately going to the hospital to be present for the birth of his daughter. This, despite claiming literally since the pilot episode that he was only doing this for his family. Compared to Hank, who we see had been consumed by his job and tracking Heisenberg and the RV. But when Hank was about to make the biggest break of his career and bust Jesse and Walt, he immediately realizes that none of that is truly important compared to Marie. He leaves the RV knowing that it will likely be destroyed and along with it any evidence to prove his investigation that he's risked his entire career on. Which one of them is truly doing it for their family?
