Firstly, a huge thank you to everybody who has pledged their support to our Patreon. From friends and existing members of the Draw community to benevolent strangers, your monthly contributions are keeping Draw running and keeping our artists, models and tutors paid. We are hugely grateful and I wanted to let you know a bit more about what we'll be sharing on here and how we'll be keeping in touch.

Rewards

We'll be posting up downloadable photo-sets for you to draw, paint, print and sculpt from - check the details of your support tier to see what you will have access to! You'll find them in this feed, ready to download by lunchtime of the scheduled day and you will able to go back through all past posts by scrolling, or using the tags to find what you need. Our weekly blogs are paid for by you and are free to everybody, our Drawing Circus photos will be in sets of 12, taken at past events. All of our other photos were commissioned and shot this week (at a generous discount) by photographer Olly Hearsey; the Portrait sets are head & shoulder rotations of one model per post, the Life sets include a selection of unclothed poses of one model per post and the Clothed sets include a variety of posts of one model per post.  The first sets of Drawing Circus, Portrait & Life photos will be posted over this weekend - after that, posts will follow this monthly schedule:

  • Every Sunday: Tutorial blog post
  • 1st Friday: Drawing Circus & Portrait photo-sets
  • 2nd Friday: Life Photo-set
  • 3rd Friday: Portrait photo-set
  • 4th Friday: Life photo-set
  • Last Friday: Clothed photo-set (4th or 5th Friday)

For 'Student of the Arts' supporters - I'll be in touch to arrange a tutorial date very soon
For 'Patron of the Arts' supporters - I have some real treats for you! I'll be posting them on surprise days of the month - keep an eye on your letter box...

Guidelines for using the photographs

Please do:

  • Download these pictures to your own computers and devices
  • Use the pictures to draw, paint, print and sculpt from, being as realistic or creative as you like
  • Share the artwork you’ve made with us and the world - in books, in exhibitions, on social media, or on your fridge
  • Tag us in work you make (@drawbrighton / #drawbrighton) – you don’t have to, but we love to see what you’ve made!

Please don't:

  • Share these pictures with anybody else – they are between you and us
  • Share the photos themselves online – thanks for respecting our models’ privacy
  • Edit the photo files themselves for artwork – we want to see original work you’ve made!

A reminder about payments - payments for your support tier come out when you sign up (thanks!) and then at the start of each month, meaning there will be one on the 1st April and another on the 1st May. You can change your level up and down or cancel whenever you like - I don't want you to be caught out of pocket by the payments if you can't afford it.

Thank you again for helping keep our community alive, I'll be posting each month to let you know how the money is being spent, and if we reach new funding goals, what additional perks we'll be adding. I can't wait to start sharing pictures for you to draw!

Stay safe and keep drawing,
Jake

Thank you Bella! Your support is really appreciated - looking forward to seeing the work you create from anything we send!

Janice Russell

I live in Portugal and am a recent artist, fairly low experience. My friend Jane in Brighton was posting her work with you and I felt a little envious of what fabulous drawing and painting exercises she was doing, and now she has pointed me to this resource. Thank you so much, can't wait to get going.

Hi Janice, how wonderful! I'm so glad you've found us - if you need any pointers or extra help, just let me know by sending a message. We'll have more posts and tutorials coming up soon! All the best, Jake
