Astra - Monthly Update (April 2022) + EP1 Playable ART Version! (Patreon)

Happy Friday!!!!!!!!! Hope everyone's week has been going well so far. ;^)

We got some phat stacks news today so let's get started!

Episode 1 - Playable ART Version

The link above is the playable ART Version of Episode 1! This is the first look at BGs, CGs, Live2D integration and music. Things missing are ambience, SFX, voice over, lip sync, GUI and some other stuff however you can get a first look at the core gameplay now!

This is extremely exciting as Astral Ascension has been in development for a year and a half now and things are finally starting to piece together. We are ultra mega excited for you guys to get a first look.

WRITING

Writing progression was solid this last month! I know it's been a very long time since our last read-only version update and now with me writing as well, it will definitely speed things up.

The reality of this episode is there is a lot of inter-connection of jealousy content going on. From passing glances, confrontations, ultimatums and other jealousy scenes, it's been an adventure to juggle everything especially since it is three waifus. There is a lot of permutations and we want to make sure the continuity makes sense.

On another note, we've added scenes where if you have been faithful to one girl (as we call it, true love route), then your platonic friends may also tease you about it. ;^)

The brunt of the more complicated content is done and what is left is the episode mission. I am fairly hopeful we should have this done in May! Fingers crossed.

CHARACTER ART

Sunimu got two new CGs done for this month! He is continuing onward to the last two for episode 4.

BACKGROUND ART

Just some more BGs and we also added an extra ship BG since the living quarters hallway was getting a good amount of attention.

ANIMATION

Nothing to report on animation side for this month. All the Live2D is completed and we haven't started on promotional material yet.

PROGRAMMING

Our narrative designer has their plate full right now! They completed the EP1 playable art version and are now doing the same for EP2 and EP3. By the time those are done, EP4 read only should be ready for him to implement and then EP4 playable art. Needless to say he will be busy for the next little while!

AUDIO

We did an inventory count on music tracks and found it lacking a bit on the flirty style tracks. Happy tracks have a slight different vibe then a blossoming of love track so we are working on adding a couple tracks there. Straight romance tracks is also only one right now so we are adding an additional in that category as well.

Lots of love is going around in the OST side of things!

As for ambience and SFX, we will be tackling this soon once the OST is in a solid spot.
