Hey Folks!

Hope you’re all keeping well and those prints are staying nice and crispy! We’re checking in today again with some more information on Atlas’s Vulcan Resin, we’ve been using the stuff ourselves for a few months now, and wanted to share our experiences, and remind y’all of the great offer they’re running right now.

Disclaimers: Consider the following review as Editorial content, after all, Atlas 3DS are our buddies, and the collaborative promotion of Vulcan constitutes a part of our wider partnership in printing and supports, so while an honest report of our experiences, we aren’t 100% impartial!

Vulcan vs. 8K Resin

As you might imagine, finding the right resin is important to us. We do a lot of printing each month, and have pretty high requirements for quality. So when Atlas sent us the first bag of Vulcan, we wanted to run some comparative tests before considering switching from our chosen 8K resin. The examples you’ll see below are the results of this test.

Before we dive in, lets cover some of the technical particulars:

Printer – Elegoo Saturn 8K

Layer Height – 0.03mm

8K Grey Resin Exposure Time – 2.2seconds

Vulcan Resin Exposure Time – 3.1seconds

Now, right off the bat we were concerned about the big increase to the exposure time and were expecting to see some significant drops in detail. The actual results though, were very surprising, check it out -

Much to our surprise, we found that the details were pretty much equivalent between the two. This was great news for us, as while we’ve been very pleased with the quality of our regular 8K resin, it was extremely brittle and prone to breaking. To get such close levels of detail from Vulcan, a much more flexible resin, is going to be a big relief moving forward, durable prints are much easier to work with after all.

There are a few negatives with Vulcan Standard that we’d like to mention, firstly, the pigment separates much quicker than we’re used to, meaning we need to stir up the vat pretty much every time we print. Secondly, and perhaps a bit superficial, we don’t much like the colour – an easy fix considering everything will receive a lick of paint. Overall, these seem like pretty minor concerns to us, especially considering the price per litre compared to the rest of the market, which leads us onto the next matter.

Im not sure if the torch comes with it still. I don’t think it showed up in my order. Kinda disappointing

Heya! To our understanding the torch is still included in the order - double check with Atlas if you're unsure. We'll pass on your feedback :)

75$ delivery costs for Germany - will I become a shareholder of the company with that order?
