If you don't know, couple of days ago Twitter started restricting the amount tweets everybody can see daily. In typical Elon crybaby fashion, he implemented a set of rules that he then quickly changed a little bit immediately. Cementing for me, that he's just doing things on the fly and changing it up or down depending on how much backlash he gets.

The limits are ridiculous and heavily, HEAVILY favoured for paying Twitter users.

If you pay Twitter for Twitter Blue, you can read 6,000 posts a day, unpaid users get 600 and new accounts get 300. He later amended it to 8,000, 800 and 400 respectively only to change it again, three hours later, to 10,000, 1,000 and 500 respectively.

I've had it. So I was thinking of what to do next. I had the idea to put in more effort into the Discord channel and leave Twitter on the back-burner. Here are my plans;

• Open the Discord Channel to everybody who wants to join. No Paywall.

• Heavily limit what free users on the Discord channel can interact with. I definitely don't want to have to moderate thousands of people, so I'd most likely limit their chat heavily, maybe totally.

Basically the free users will be sort of sectioned off somewhat. They could have a space to talk maybe, but it'd have to be heavily filtered and moderated.

• Clearly signify who's a paying supporter and who isn't. I think if you pay me, you should clearly be shown to be so in a social bubble like this.

• Create a channel that's basically the Twitter feed, with only emoji reactions possible. Then a secondary channel for people to react to it.

• I'm gonna look around how other people have their servers set up and probably steal some of their good ideas.

• I'm going to try and make an effort to be more social on Discord and make the server a bit better. I'm working Mon-Fri from 7:00 till approx 15:00 - 16:00, so by that time I'm pretty fried and I need to chill. But I am going to try and be more talkative, maybe do an occasional stream.

• As the previous point states, I'll make an effort to improve the server. Maybe invest money into it, get some emoji's or something. Have a nice community there.

• Maybe we can workshop some sort of event(s) to do on Discord, too.

• I'm looking for more ideas for the Discord channel, as usual I'm all ears.

So, my question:

Would you mind if I opened the Discord Channel up to everybody?

Since this is a unique reward, meant to be exclusive, I should run this by paying supporters, imo.

Don't use it but please share the goodness

I think open is good. Hopefully it won't attract any undesirables 😛

It most likely will! I had a look at SquarePeg's Discord and it's frequently attacked by various groups. :/

That's a shame. I guess there's no avoiding it, although he is quite popular too. Let's hope your content will attract a nicer crowd. I think it will! 🙂
