Spooney Bard

Letty month is on. These are weirdly written tales as one has so little plot and the other a deluge. I wouldn't guess they were from the same collaborator so kudos there Letty. First up is Champions but only Sam, Miles, 2.0 and Viv. It was a hot one but went by so fast. The foundation was laid without movement at the middle of page one. From there some awesome sex and artwork flow but without too much spark. Both dudes, who made a great bromance I must say, seem to not know how to react to the sisters' barbs as they exist in a world of their own. The sex flowed brilliantly nailing continuity. Reverse cowgirl on ceiling to stretch oral was a thing of genius. If this was her go to ship then she nailed it in terms of positions and progression. Although the Kamala scene might be the first case of purely implied nudity in the Scopsverse. My favorite stuff is the interaction and and dialogue between the Vivs (grammar be damned). As they fight for their moment before swapping and literally/figuratively coming together. Otherwise great sex occurs but it was a bit of a trifle.

Champions is an unremarkable, slightly dull book. This parody of it is similarly unremarkable (but thankfully not dull). I don't necessarily think the author is at fault. The quality of the writing is par for the course, but I guess a big part of my appreciation for parody comes from the subversion of the characters' personalities. In the case of the champions, there hasn't been much establishment of canonical personalities for any of the characters so the whole thing comes across as kinda generic. Maybe in a couple of years, once these characters are more established, I could re-read this book and appreciate it more. Certainly the art is nicely done and the sex itself is well done.

I was looking forward to this almost as much as Beetle (I! Dig! Hot Chick Robots! and no one is going to read this to get the reference), and again, not disappointed.
