It should come as no surprise to you that I think music theory is awesome. It's beautiful, elegant, powerful, and rigorous. It sits at the intersection of aesthetics and science. But, if you're not a musician, is there really a point to learning it? What do you gain, if you're not making music yourself? I think you gain a lot, actually.
