I don't think the manager is a bad guy but the cliché idea of a fake boyfriend is boring. I really don't like that trope. The story still is cute but I am not taken as Our Dining Table took me.

I actually like how they did the fake boyfriend. Normally, a fake SO causes some kind of misunderstanding and buckets of tension between the main leads. However, in this case, Mahiro is there the whole time, so he does not misunderstand. And the fake SO is completely directed towards someone else. Also, it feels like that, along with the conversation in the kitchen inspires Mahiro to contact Souta for probably the first time outside of coordinating their schedules/ coocking classes/ food delieveries.

I loved Lydia asking, "Are you going to get jealous of yourself?!" But also, yeah that's pretty much a trope in Japanese and Korean drama outside of BL. lol . The whole kitchen convo was so cute though, and I cackled every time Mahiro's eyes popped open. The Taiwanese actor actually brings up the longstanding trope of the moon meaning "I love you." It started in Japan, but it is now probably more popular in Taiwan and even Thailand. (Pretty sure that is where the emphasis on the moon in Moonlight Chicken comes from. Especially since they go as far as to use a Taiwanese theme song about the moon representing love.) And I LOVE that both Mahiro and Souta send moon pics. And Souta actually goes as far as to say" " The moon is beautiful tonight." I am dying at the girl being named Komachi. Komachi is the name of a breed of rice in Akita, where I used to live and also the name of the bullet train that runs from Tokyo to Akita. While I am sure that she legit wanted to get rid of the boss' attention, I am also pretty certain that she actually likes Souta. Pretty sure she said something like that before. Now that she has turned up at his grandma's once, no reason she can't do it again.
