Hey, everyone! I hope you're doing well today. I'll have a release up for later today, but first I wanted to do a quick poll.

I've noticed some people on VRPorn have been mentioning that they don't like the camera work. At first I chalked this up to them not understanding the position from the last Honoka scene by Spizder. It was a new position I'd never done before, and one that required a bit of imagination, as I'm not even sure it would be physically possible in real life. The camera was placed realistically, right at the male's eye level, slightly forward to avoid clipping, and angled up so that you could not see your collar bones. Just like a real life pivoting neck, you would be able to look above you and below you, but limited by the constraints of your skeletal frame. The camera is set up for proper scaling, as well as placed at an optimal height.

That said, I'm now starting to question that reasoning as I've received multiple comments in line with "the camera is positioned too far away" or "zoomed out too far".

I'm no longer paying attention to comments saying we are not utilizing good positions in our videos. We're trying many different things here at Dark Dreams, and I won't do the same position over and over again. We work with many different artists, and many different characters, with a variety of positions. This is purely about camera position and type.

Do you prefer a camera that is realistic in nature? One that allows you to look around the room, as if you are there? Or do you prefer a more cinematic shot, or what I would call a third person camera? Or a hybrid of the two, one where it's still a POV shot, but not realistic in placement?

For me personally, this would give me some peace of mind in terms of what we do at the studio. I don't see myself fully stepping away from a realistic point of view, but it would open my mind to trying different things I normally wouldn't. Of course, we've done third person shots in the past. I just prefer a realistic POV shot for VR.

"IT'S VR. IT ALLOWS YOU TO FEEL LIKE YOU'RE REALLY THERE!!!" That's the voice in my head, telling me I'm right. And I realized that is close minded and foolish. I need to keep an open mind. Thus why I am bringing this poll forward.

I take great pride in what we do here, but I don't want to be close minded. Let me know what you all think and how you feel. Leave a comment and place a vote.

Honestly, i think the whole point of VR is to make it feel like everything is in your POV. But I see how some people would want it to seem like they are in the "room" not necessarily partaking in the action 😉

I share your opinion the best view for vr is pov and i think many share the same opinion thats why the majority are watching quietly because its already good for us, and i understand that sometimes to make it realistic pov creat more problems, so i dont see the problems when changing the position for better view especially if the realistic view gonna bring me nick pain from looking downward

VR is by definition intended to be POV, but a truly immersive experience is more than just the camera position. To reference your previous work, the Tifa spread eagle is one of my favorites, since it not only has excellent camera positioning, but has a kind of narrative, as well. Tifa shows emotion as the ‘story’ played out, with a literal climax at the end. That makes the experience far more satisfying than your average loop from other vr producers , which is akin to an emotionless blow up doll.

A believe that the major thing for me is eye contact. That’s why I rarely watch the other positions that are not front view. BJs and titwork doesn’t attract me as much cuz none of that is replicable for me with toys. With that said, eye contact and a loop of animation that is not as short so it’s noticeable are the best things for me. The audio needs to be also in sync with the mouth as close as possible. If that is not happening, it takes me totally out of the experience. That’s why I absolutely love LazyProcastinator’s work. He is just a master in eye contact and animation. The gradual acceleration and back to normal on the trust speed is a bonus as well.

Hum, hard to say. I mean ofc POV 1st person is nice. But I also saw some videos from other artists that have been made with the hyprid concept, also tempting. A thing that would be cool, also mentioned in another comment, is more emotions. I got one VR video with real people. And its so magic when the woman kisses you for example. In general People are soooo feed up with random gonzo porn, no matter how good the quality is. They want feelings. Thats why they spend hundreds of dollars on OF.

Pov and voyeur work. Fwiw I do think that in a lot of videos the scale of the body feels off, like you're over 2 meters tall. It's of course not easy to perfectly correlate, but often when looking at my overlaid controllers they barely reach the hip

Tbh , i dont even bother downloading or looking at anything that isnt POV. I think the whole allure of VR, is to experience things as if you were there yourself. After experiencing VR for myself, i just dont really like the non-VR POV stuff anymore. For me, seeing a new animation someone puts out only gets me thinking "wow, this would be awesome to watch in VR". So yeah, those are my thoughts on the matter. I hope you continue to release more POV VR stuff, since thats all i really want.

I like third person but only because I also like the voyeuristic aspect. That's not to say I don't also enjoy first person but I think I'm weighted slightly more toward third. Hope this helps and thanks for your hard work!

I love realistic cartoons, these are all wonderful. I prefer petite skinny chicks, but love your work as it is.
