I've finally bought myself a 5 tier rack... and replaced the synth sofa! with a smaller one.  I previously had a corner sofa with most of the synths sitting along the back of it.  It worked, and was very comfortable, but felt cramped and was difficult to get to the synths.  I've been meaning to do this for ages, but the thought of moving everything was far too daunting.

Eventually got round to it last week... but had forgot to buy enough arms for the synths to sit on.  I still need another pair.. so I've not wired it up yet.  I'm going to have to pull it all down again to add the extra bits... aargh!!

I've got a Patchbay on this side of the studio I use for the Moogerfoogers - you can see a load of wires hanging down. So all this will be patched here, which in turn is patched into the main 19" rack - so everything should be really easy to access - finally.

I used to have everything patched into a 56 channel desk and miss the immediacy of access.  Hopefully this will get me experimenting a bit more.  I've still got other bits that are boxed and I get out every now and then, like the BSII and Monologue, plus the Behringer Cat, Wasp and Pro-1... but I need a bigger room or lose the sofa completely.  But I do like a nice sit down :)

I'm looking at additional space for the videos and have a plan.. and potential access to free space!!  but Covid lockdown has slowed things down, and I've got fed up of the mess.

Even more annoying is stuff that used to go FOC. I’ve a minor issue with my Sherman Filterbank, and as a thanks for the video Herman said he’d look at it. BUT .. how do I send it to the EU without paying through the nose in duties? He has to pay for import to Belgium, then I have to pay VAT duties and charges to get it back into the U.K. a nightmare tbh... been trying to figure it out but obviously the info available on gov.U.K. Is absolutely useless. I’ve now given up! It’s just stuff that international distributors sort out with all sorts of custom clearances and exclusions via various tax exemptions they have to apply for. If it’s your main business model then OK ... but for everyone else!! Aargh. So anything that was sent from EU direct by manufacturers now needs specialist help. Forgetting all those small modular synth companies etc... what about the rest of the economy. Just seems like we’ve shot ourselves in the foot. ... I suppose most Brexit supporters don’t deal with this sort of stuff. So doesn’t bother them. I’m getting very annoyed now so I’ll stop right there 😠

Agree. There is a new oscillator coming out called “Castor & Pollux” which is two voices modelled on the Juno apparently. It sounds great on the demos, but it’s from a small US manufacturer called Winterbloom who have no European stockists yet, let alone UK. So although I wanted to pre-order one I had to hold back.
