Modal Cobalt 8 review and demo (Patreon)

I've actually been sent a synth to review!! :) As all the 'big boys' get them in advance I'm always on the backfoot in a way - everything there is to be said has normally already been published online, so I tend to add to whatever's already available with some extra thoughts of my own. BUT... today I'v e got in early(ish).. hurray :). there are a few reviews out already and pre-release teasers etc.. so I'm still not at the top of the list, but nice to be on someone list.. it's just good to know I'm taken seriously , or my demos are respected by the industry as well as us normal folk :)
I popped this one out quickly after doing a short demo for CTV yesterday.. plus all the tripods, cameras and lights are still littering the kitchen and while the kids were at school I squeezed this one out.
An interesting take on virtual analog. The oscillators have modelled 34 algorithms, which you could really consider as 34 scenarios where different oscillators have been put in sync, ring mod, detuned, shaped etc.. so 2 knobs can take you through complex setups without the need for loads of oscillators. I guess it's a clever way of efficiently using the CPU - instead of modelling 4 oscillators, then modelling their interactions... just model the output... giving the same result? also a great way to maximise their investment on the Argon 8 hardware, as this is effectively the same with a new coat of paint.
Amazing keyed as well. Great to get something this good on a compact synth.
