After making the KiNK video for Clubbing TV, I had a deeper dig into the XD, and found it was so much more than I expected.

This is a look at some of the features that I was particularly impressed with.

Hopefully no errors on this one!!

Korg Minilogue XD: review of Functions that make it GREAT

The Minilogue XD is so much more powerful than it first appears. In this I demo the sequencer, user wave, user FX and CV connections to show how it can be expanded to produce tones impossible out of the box. 0:00 Intro 2:18 Sequencer 7:51 User waves 10:20 Souper 11:37 Physiq 17:12 Beats 19:55 User FX 24:25 CV Control 27:25 Conclusion

Hey Starsky. If I’ve already got the KORG Prologue 16 voice. Am I missing anything not having the mini lounge XD?

Starsky Carr

I don’t think so. They both have the user waves and FX plus the 16 sequencer buttons. I think the Prologue is just it’s bigger brother.

Hey! I'm torn between getting this Minilogue XD, the Deepmind 12 or the Modal Argon 8 (these last two a bit heavier on the wallet, but I'm not planning on buying many more hardware poly synths in the foreseeable future). The Argon 8 seems easier to use, with less menu diving and a more knob-per-function feel than both the DM12 and the MLXD, so it will probably end up being the one for me. But... on the other side, the MLXD has all those juicy user waves and effects and the DM12, although built as a more classic synth (I already have an analog one, so that analog itch has been scratched), has a LOT of polyphony and apparently endless mod matrix possibilities. Since you have both the MLXD and the DM12, which one do you like best? Not to compare, since they are quite different, but which one grabs you more by the ear and doesn't let go?

Between DM12 and MLXD I'd go with the Korg. I don't tend to use 12 voices of polyphony and 4 is actually plenty in most cases. Unless you're playing live recreating old tracks 4 is enough. It actually helps to reduce muddiness in a mix, and with the great FX on the Korg it can sound really lush. I do like the DM, don't get me wrong, but don't dig into all the modulation with the FX etc...if I'm getting that complex I'd use a DAW generally.. I really like the VCOs on it and the minilogue... they have a certain richness when comparing to others. Oscillators are more flexible on the Korg.. envelopes more flexible on the DM etc etc etc, and as you say they're different machines. Rambling on here as it's a difficult choice, but the KORG sneaks pips it at the post for sound quality.
