I'm so excited to invite you all to the first SciFi Reading Hour of 2020, on February 29th. Get tickets here.

We're doing a leap-year event, because that feels suitably SciFi, and I'm psyched to be hosting Duck Washington and Dissociate as my featured performers this month. Duck is one of my favorite Twin Cities playwrights, who (luckily for me) writes things that sometimes explore the weird what-ifs that SciFi takes on. And I've been an admirer of Jonathan's moody atmospheric music for ages. When I asked the two of them to do the February SciFi Reading Series, I had no idea that they'd gone to school together- I can't help but be curious what their shared context will translate to on stage.

Having read Duck's pieces for the show, I'm really excited to have him on stage. They run the gamut from funny/sexy to strange and maybe foreboding. And Jonathan is the first of my musicians to have taken on my challenge to write a new piece for the show. No spoilers, but you're in for a treat. And me? I'm reworking some strange, emotional stories that I think Jonathan will have fun with.

Duck Washington is a playwright, producer, actor, director, audio designer, and improviser in the Twin Cities. He serves on the board of directors for Fearless Comedy Productions, the Twin Cities Horror Festival, and Rinky Dink Operations. He is a member of Blackout Improv, Vilification Tennis and the Theater of Public Policy. He is co-producer of The Encyclopedia Show. A sampling of the organizations Duck has worked with include the Minnesota Fringe Festival, Convergence, Park Square theater, Theater in the Round, Freshwater Theater, The Chameleon Theatre Circle, and Rogues Gallery Arts.
Dissociate is the dark and somewhat spooky electronic outlet for sound designer and musician Jonathan L. Ford. Jonathan loves a wide variety of nerdy stuff, participating in fun and challenging projects, and drinking too much coffee. Jonathan recently contributed music to the independent film 'The Coyote Way' and currently plays guitar with synth pop band Little Tin Box."
