In case it hasn't become clear... A lot of this is new and different from the campaign. There was no split party, no Umbrasyl attack, no threat to Kamaljiori. You can't remember these things because they didn't happen. We're in uncharted territory.

I hear what you're saying about saying no to cursed swords, BUUUUUT, what if it's voiced by Matt Mercer? Then it's ok, right?

They are sticking with the campaign but it's also 'in broad strokes' mode this season. Streamlining is definitely the goal, even more so than in Season 1. Lots of things are being combined and/or changed in order to make the story as smooth as possible. I'm amazed with what they managed to do with Season 2...I don't think there's a single change they made that doesn't make sense and that doesn't make the story better than it was in the campaign. It strikes a balance between giving the fans the awesome moments they remember and wanted to see, and also surprising us with the twists and turns.

The Force

Oh boy, here we go, this is the one that always gets me, no matter how many times I've seen it. Yep, even trying to ignore it and focus on tasks stupid Scanlan's song and story there fuckin hits me on so many personal levels xD

The Force

As others have said most of this is straight up new, for instance: •Rimecleft is a new place made up for the show that's on the same continent as Vasselheim, as previously they treehopped back to their home continent to continue the story after getting the Matron's Vestige. •The entire challenge in Rimecleft is completely new as well, in game they did a bunch of puzzles but Sam explained they couldn't figure out how to make that interesting as an episode, so they did this instead, including Scanlan's Power Ballad which kills me everytime. •Umbrasyl never actually attacks them, I don't believe, and Kam is completely fine. Fuckin evil people creating sadness in my epic adventure! /j •Grog hurting Pike I saw someone mentioning in another show that it was when he threw the sword at something thinking an enemy was coming out of/hiding there and Pike ended up being there. But yeah a lot of this is new, I also felt like the party got split here cause people were busy and stuff and it still wasn't like a full-time thing. Apparently a lot of other people remember otherwise so I dunno if I'm crazy or if they are but I don't think it matters, it's well done and fun xD

Scanlan's power ballad absolutely slaps, but I'm glad to see some appreciation for his little Mythcarver ditty! The melody is so cool, I always have to replay it when I see this episode, and I usually end up humming it after. Sam's falsetto is beautiful, and his technique is just so good there!

He actually inpured Pike trying to get out of one of the sphinx's puzzles. Each puzzle was a different element. You entered one of them and were taken to something like an elemental plane. Inside each plane was a different letter that they had to find to spell out the sphinx's name (which he didn't tell them - that was the challenge, to discover his name). Grog entered wind, but couldn't get back out. So he attached either a rope, or the chain of returning, to the sword, and threw it out of the portal. He had to make a roll to see whether he could anchor it on something, but rolled pretty low. So instead of it hitting a wall or something, Matt had it embed in Pike.
