Not only is this my favourite episode of Jodie's era, it's one of my favourite episodes of the show full stop. The story is amazing, the new characters are brilliant, the music is chilling, Dan and Yaz's chemistry, and Jodie is sensational. This is the scariest The Angels have been since 'Blink'.

This episode involved the writer Maxine Alderton, who wrote The Haunting of Villa Diodati from the previous season. The actor who played Jericho appeared before in classic Who. The story where Amy had dust coming out her eye was actually from The Time of Angels from season 5. Forest Of The Dead is a season 4 episode with River, Donna and the 10th Doctor.

Honestly Paula, you must be a nightmare keeping presents a secret from, you really do have a knack for guessing certain beats and key plot points in the story correctly! 😂 But yeah oh God I love Jericho, he really is just such a fantastic character, his bravery and his pride up against all of those personal digs the angel was throwing at him, I could relate so much to it all, so to see him go 'you don't know me! You are observed! That is the one power I have over you!' just gives you chills doesn't it? The Angels episodes always stress me out too, they really are just the worst aren't they? Oh and those cliff-hangers are so cruel aren't they? 😂 p.s. I'm 100% the same with The Lord of The Rings, I absolutely love it, so then after all of the things I've heard about and the behind the scenes stuff I've seen, as well as the fact that I'm a filmmaker myself as it is, having studied it at college and uni and whatnot, you get much more of an appreciation for the magic behind the franchise. But yeah I know what you mean Katrina, I've been a bit apprehensive after all of the little bits and pieces you hear on social media, I was sort of the same with House of the Dragon after Game of Thrones (apart from the ending of GOT for me) and other remakes of my childhood and teen-hood favourites, even certain series of doctor who before I ended up loving it. But I'm definitely willing to give The Rings of Power a go! My parents have watched it and seem to enjoy it so you never know! But of course, absolutely loving the reactions as always, sorry I must sound like such a broken record now 😂, but yeah you know I always love your guys' reactions every week, so it's only fair. 😊

If you keep in mind that nothing can really match the near-perfection that is the LOTR movies (including another trilogy in the same universe done by the same director), you'll be fine. Also, if you've read the books (Silmarillion, ChIldren of Hurin, LOTR appendices, etc.) be prepared for some slight departure from them... or at least some creative tweaking.

Definitely my favourite episode of this season, probably my favourite of the Chibnall era. Some real 'classic Who' vibes and a really great supporting cast. Jericho is up there with Sally Sparrow and Idris as far as guest characters are concerned!
