A double training for me with this illustration. First the asian boy, I still feel it's so hard to get properly the asian physique, and I didn't draw one for a long time. You'll get soon why I need to practice more.

Second, the solid black shading: I still want to master this rendering, and the right way might be as I did there: a bit shy, and just underlining the delicate details that I was losing on previous artworks. Furthermore, I saw some cool videos with some good hints on the hatching / cross-hatching to perform on this basis, to get a less brutal white / black contrast between lights & shadows.

I show you the original inking without the shadows + a zoom in the face / hair, that's pretty simplified & works for me.
