Wild Magic Surge! This month has been focusing on improving integration with "Items with Spells DnD5e" and "5e Custom Abilities & Skills" allowing for the long-requested Custom Skills to come in from DDB, as well as an alternative to the Magic Items module.

In addition, a new feature in DDB Importer and Adventure Muncher allows the linking of notes to Journal Page headers - this might not mean much to you, but the short version is less Journal entries need to be imported in v10, saving space and reducing load times!

Finally, there is a temporary collection of fixes, primarily by @Kaelad, for Active-Auras and Active Token Effects for v10. These modules are beloved by those of us using a lot of automation, but Kandashi, the author, cannot update them right now due to RL pressures. If you want to use these in your v10 environment, the links are:

What are the kobolds planning for this month?

I'm currently in the early stages of hacking on more adventure importing improvements. No doubt we will also see a few more effects.

I also spent a good deal of time sorting through and organising a backlog of improvements and bugs to give a bit more focus. A few things floated to the top that I want to explore a bit. Depending on how things go, hopefully another poll before the end of the year.

Condensed Changelog

DDB Importer

  • If using the "Items with Spells DnD5e" module, spell data for items will be generated. If "Magic Items" is also installed, the importer will use that first.
  • If using the "5e Custom Abilities & Skills" module, DDB Importer will import and add any custom skills on your character sheet.
  • Allow linking to journal headers from map pins in Adventure Muncher v1.1.0.
  • Inject a field into the note config to allow linking to journal references. Dragging an anchor link from the journal sidebar will also add the relevant information to a new note/pin.

Effect fixes:

  • Relax module requirements for many feature effects such as Rage.
  • Green flame blade extra damage targeted caster.
  • Booming Blade would target the caster with damage when moving.
  • If Retain Active Effects was ticked, many effects from non-ddb items could be duplicated.
  • Spell: Aid - could add more HP than it should in some combinations.
  • Spell fixes: Shillelagh, Magic Weapon.
  • Spell: Invisibility did not set the correct effect status in some Convenient Effect modes.
  • Action Surge would place the number of surges in the damage field.
  • Rage could target another creature.
  • Hunter's Mark rewritten to use newer syntax.

New effects:

  • Channel Divinity: Sacred Weapon.
  • Font of Magic (based on a macro by Zhell/MidiQoL)
  • Favored Foe, will also add concentration as required. (Thanks to @illcom94 for most of this).
  • Cloak of Displacement improvements if using midiqol.
  • Moon Sickle bonus healing if using midi.
  • Heavy Armor Master (requires midiqol).
  • Monster Effect: Pack Tactics effect if using midi-qol.

Monster Parsing:

  • Nosferatu parsing tweaks to break bite damage out into versatile.
  • Dullahan had parsing problems around legendary/mythic actions and battle axe damage.

Adventures:

  • Support DoSI.
  • Tweaks to compendium folder generation to prevent failure when Forge module is enabled in v10.
  • Option for importing all actors in an adventure into a world, when using Adventure Muncher v1.0.9.
  • Option for linking actors in adventure-imported journals to world actors rather than compendium actors.
  • Third Party Map integrations now work with journal header links from map notes/pins.

Characters:

  • Fix a bug re-importing actors with certain effects.
  • More effect retention bugs.
  • Bug when importing files to S3 would generate bad links.
  • Some mild clean-up on character import code.
  • HTML in custom item descriptions when updating to DDB would break the update.
  • Advancement will now copy any SRD Scale Advancements to fix issues like when CE relies on these named advancements.
  • Characters that consisted of entirely non-ASCII names would overwrite each other's images.
  • If not using effects, items which added bonuses to spell DC did not always apply. e.g. Moon Sickle.
  • Update to DDB: if using Item Containers, update could fail when moving items into containers.
  • Update to DDB: Would not always update actions with 0 charges back to DDB. ( i hope this solves a lot of the weird action based sync problems).
  • Small tweaks to Aura of Protection scaling.
  • Some fixes to character import where if effects from things like active auras were present could prevent character re-imports working.
  • Some mild cleanup of effect transfer and character import code - mild chance some odd edge cases might have b0rked.


DDB Adventure Muncher

  • Support to allow all DDB Importer to import all adventure actors into the world, and to link to world actors in journals.
  • Support for generating adventures without Note Pin pages, in v10 the latest DDB Importer (v3.1.18) can jump to links within Journal Pages instead.
  • LMoP: Fixes due to DDB Changes
  • DoSI: Initial Support. (Requires Adventure Muncher v1.0.8)
  • Support Dragons of Stormwreck Isle.
  • SaiS: More ship alignments, thanks @Pariah Zero
  • CM: Missing Scene, thanks @Pariah Zero
  • Bug in Journal Pin generation which could produce empty pins in some circumstances.
  • Generation of adventures for v9 would fail to generate content for Journals.
  • PotA: Fixes for formatting upgrade.
  • Fix pin generation for TSC.

I see in the recent update (or maybe the prior one?) the new selector for Adventures in DDB Importer Compendium Configuration. What type and entity are adventures? I maintain a shared compendium and I want to apply the correct, um, qualifiers.
