Hiya there, guys! Cutting it a little close--but as promised, I've went ahead and uploaded alpha 0.7! Whoo! Or, uh, something!
As always, you'll find the new alpha sitting nice and cozy in the alpha folder sent your way at the start of the month. And for those last month, too, to honour things due to how slow I was for a number of factors. If you believe you're entitled to the alpha but have yet to receive it for whatever reason--please get in touch and I'll fix things swiftly!
Now, admittedly I'm a little hesitant about uploading this build--as I feel perhaps the amount of new content isn't going to reflect the time it took to push it out. And it's been one of the reasons I've been fretting so much. This is the struggle I face with handling all of the aspects on my own (writing, scripting, image editing, audio editing for voices, etc.) where swapping between each task in any given build really saps momentum away and makes it feel like I'm making less progress than I'd like. Between this and the non-linear way of constructing things, it sometimes feels like I'm not moving necessarily 'forward' with things. But I'm going to attempt to remedy this by making a followup post soon and ask what alpha testers would like to see me focus on the most, so I have a clear goal ahead of me in any given month. And in the dev logs, I'm going to be more transparent with progress on said goals to give a much better idea of how things might progress. I feel that this is the best solution for both myself and you guys, to give me the drive to continue to push out new builds!
Rambling aside, here is what I've added this month! A large number of things lie semi-written and semi-complete, so I did my best to put together the most refined elements I felt ready to showcase right now--so bear with me!
- A very lengthy conclusion to June's scenes, effectively wrapping up her arc! 1 normal CG scene and 2 h-scenes are included in this finale, with one of the h-scenes being fully voiced. (I still need to add some extra dialogue to her talk scenes in the church to fully flesh out her character, though--so she's not 100% complete yet.) Details on how to experience this finale that took up most of my development time will be included in the scene guide post.
- A new area has been added to Rhan during the tour, featuring a new character that I'm sure is going to be verrrryyyy hit or miss with people. They're not yet fully implemented into general areas after the opening, though.
- A new day time event at the beach has been added with a fun little conversation featuring a certain mischievous mermaid~ Why on earth is Matt going back anyway?
As with earlier alpha builds, things might feel a little stitched together with a myriad of alpha only workarounds and abrupt ends, but I've been doing my best to try to avoid this and smoothing out rougher areas as I go along--but in the off-chance you break sequence or find something you probably weren't supposed to, let me know and I'll upload a fixed build really rapidly!
Thanks again for your immense patience and I really apologise for the size of this update. I feel like I'm letting people down only adding in this amount of content this far in, and really want to try and get a solid workflow going. I think maybe the root of my stopping and starting lies with me having to do everything required of the project and I really should look for addition help in regards to scripting/audio editing to cut back on time spent not writing the main bulk of things!
