More great things to note. - Azula! Let’s go! - Another classic “This isn’t a kid show” moment (Ozai immolating the would be assassin). And if that isn’t the spirit of ATLA I don’t know what is. - The costume design. We get a lot more attention drawn to it this episode and it really is wonderful. - Omashu looks incredible. - Nailed the Jet intro. From the flirting with Katara to razzing Sokka. - The weaving of narratives and moments from so many of the animated episodes into this one episode was pretty incredibly done. - Bringing out Sokka’s relationship with his father in comparison and contrast to the attitude of Sai and his son is great on so many levels and will surely pay dividends as we get deeper into Sokka’s feelings toward his dad down the road. - Katara sharing her memories of her mother *before* her death is a great moment I don’t believe we really ever get in the animated. - Zuko continues to get fleshed out wonderfully in this episode earlier on than in the animated in a way that really leans into the inner conflict of the character perfectly. “What in the America’s” fucking got me. 😂 “The joy of watching someone enjoy something.” And that’s why we love watching reaction videos.
