They just get better and better. Ethan Hunt is like an American version of Bond.

Chis mcquarie joined to rewrite this movie after the studio tried to force cruise out and replace him with renner. He then goes on to write and direct the next 4 movies.

Just saying, the old school show is great as well. But I’m biased for cool weekly missions.

the mission impossible format has been paid homage to a bunch of times. some bad examples include: The A Team Burn Notice Leverage but i will say one i thought wasn't half bad was Hustle. that was a bit more Oceans 11(2001 version) but i'd also say Oceans 11 was half inspired by mission impossible

And also directed the first Jack Reacher movie with Cruise then co-writes Top Gun Maverick. I think we have this generation's best Actor/Director combination like we did with Kurt Russell/John Carpenter and Tom Hanks/Robert Zemeckis

The reason the first three mission impossible movies all seem so different is because they all had different directors who choose their own styles because the producers and studios liked the idea of each movie having its own feel. However, the movies stopped doing as well at the Box Office so the plan was to introduce Jeremy Renner's character in this movie to take over for Tom Cruise in the subsequent films. But thanks to the new tone of this film, and Tom Cruise becoming a producer so that the studio couldn't say no to him doing his own stunts as they had in the previous films, the movie was a total success and revitalized the franchise. (Yes Tom Cruise actually climbed and ran along the Burge Kalifa, albeit with harnesses but still awesome) The next 2 movies along with the upcoming 2 films built off the success of this film continuing the trend of amazing sets/locations, Tom Cruise doing all his own outrageous stunts, and a similar tone for a newly cohesive multi-film storyline. Additionally, the next 4 films all have the same director so they really feel like one continuing story. Y'all really are in for a treat with Rouge Nation and Fallout. (Also as a rule of thumb for the next movies anytime you are wondering if Tom Cruise actually did what is on screen the answer is yes no matter how insane it seems, he really is one of the last true action stars)

Bond has got nothing on Hunt. I mean Daniel Criag is great and all but Tom Cruise is just a madman and especially for his age looks damn good on screen I mean the man is 61 and still looking, running, and fighting better than most 30 y/o action stars.

The austen powers movie was goldmember, I think you were thinking of him saying "I love GOLLLLLD!"
