I believe this episode is what made the show go beyond many others. Season 1, ratings wise, the show was the 5th most watched on TV at time, in the first half of this season it was fluctuating around 4th-5th, these 2 episodes are the ones that catapulted the show in the Top 3 (because it had such a big audience), where it would stay until the very end.

This is the last time we see marcel. He is mentioned in a later season but it’s a general consensus in the fandom that the marcel storyline was pretty bad so they decided not to bring him back and joke about Ross ever owning a monkey in a later season.
