The firelord and fire benders in general become stronger when Sozin's comet comes. That's why Sokka said they only had to check all dates before the comet arrives as opposed to all future dates. :) I love how at some point in the beginning you said "Imagine if they didn't have Appa. How fucked that'd be" and then the episode goes on like "Yeah actually let's imagine that..."

No, the Firelord will become stronger with Sozins comets at summers end. The eclipse will happen before that.

Lol you gotta stop looking away, you missed some really small details that are kind of important. And no, Firebenders lose their firebending during an eclipse, so no, it won't make them stronger, they get back their bending after the eclipse is over of course. The comet is supposed to make the firebenders stronger than ever according to Avatar Roku. Also, this is now turning into a single story. From this episode, and until the season finale, everything is a lot more connected and is basically it's own story.

Adam is Magic

The irony of you saying "Imagine if they didn't have Appa?" then ten minutes later Appa gets kidnapped.

Some things that I personally really enjoy about this episode: Sokka's remark at the beginning. He's completely right that they can't just walk into the Fire Nation palast once Aang has mastered the elements. Also, I live how they remind you of Zhao's research and how water benders lost their ability during the lunar eclipse. It gives a lot of coherence to the world and greater significance to the first season.

:( it's this storyline now. This episode hurt me so much, Appa getting taken away and poor Toph -- the guilt she felt and Aang's reaction. What a heartbreaking storyline.

Well, it seems the timeline had already been mentioned by someone else. Moving forward I really love the next several episodes. They really define Book 2 for me. Up until about this point a lot of things seem a bit random but now we're getting to the connective tissues. Trust me when I say you are not prepared for the last couple of episodes this season.

Ansley

It's not the eclipse that makes him stronger, it's the comet. That's why sokka was like "lol won't bother looking up dates AFTER the comet cause we'll all be dead"

Joe, you missed the part where aang looks at a picture of the lion turtles. Its VERY VERY IMPORTANT. LIKE SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER>

the comet increases a firebenders strength by a hundred suns, a solar eclipse blocks their bending.

Omega Sirius

Yeah that's what I was talking about in my comment above, everything in this show is important, and it goes by really fast, and you have to pay very close attention. He's been looking away several times in previous episodes, he can't be doing that now, everything is getting more complex, and body language is used a lot more often in this season than previous, not a second can be wasted.

Cant wait for the next episode, its my personal favorite

This episode starts a really awesome storyline that lasts until the end of the season. There's a couple that are my personal favorites. Also yes, that voiceover during the beginning of "Previously on Avatar" was Zhao, the villain from season 1, and it was said during the finale of season 1

Holy shit they mentioned lion turtles in this episode... what a foreshadowing...
