v4, Chapter 15

Dania’s Jealousy
Dania’s Point of View
Everything was supposed to go as I wanted.
So why isn't it going my way?

I haven't done anything wrong.

"Why do I have to go through all this?! I didn't do anything wrong!"

"I shouldn't have to endure this treatment."

After having our mansion destroyed, and after we got chased out with just a little money, we weren't going to let it end like this.

"I won't forgive them... I won't let it end like this."

"That woman! How dare she do this to me."

Marie continues to ignore my countless letters. Who does she think she is?
How could she be so heartless when we're in trouble?

If Shepherd and I are in trouble, she should help us.

"Ingrate..."

"I can't walk anymore. Why do I have to get this dirty?!"

It's all Marie's fault.
Yes, it all started when she married someone like Henry in the first place.

I've always found Henry annoying.
I thought he would give up on marriage if I set the condition of becoming a live-in son-in-law, but he accepted the condition.

I don't like it.
Diaz seemed to identify with Henry and found him cute, which made me angry, so I got a woman to try to break them up.

But...

"I can tell you lack class. Just like her."

"Huh?"

"I may be a commoner, but I have no interest in playing with women without manners."

He laughed at her, thus making a fool out of me.
So, in retaliation, I gave him tasks he couldn't do and forcefully took him to social events.

"Mrs. Dania, he’s a wonderful man.”

"With him around, the Ranford family will be safe."

My plans to embarrass her didn't work, and Diaz, who was trying too hard to protect Henry, started looking at Shepherd with more hostility every day.

So I took it out on Marie.
Henry was in my way.

I needed to get them divorced as soon as possible.
So I thoroughly tormented him and made it look like Henry was having an affair, but Marie didn't suspect a thing.

Noble marriages are all about political alliances. It's common sense.
It's so unsightly how close they were, and my irritation grew.

Why do they look so happy when I'm so miserable?

This should not be allowed.
To be loved by one's father.

I've never been loved by my own father for a long time.

I was supposed to be the one fit to be the Viscountess, but that man.

Alro Ranford wanted to love my daughter, not me.

I just couldn't allow that.

v4, Chapter 16

The Day I Detested my Father
Dania’s Point of View
My father was a dull man.
Despite being a Viscount, he preferred a modest lifestyle, and my Mother was also an ordinary woman.

While she supported my Father's actions, she didn't indulge in extravagance.
Her dedication to managing the estate for my Father seemed foolish to me, and I looked down on her.

My sister Anita admired my Mother and helped with estate work.
I had been forced to study by my Father from a young age, but studying was meaningless.

Anita was an ordinary woman and didn't possess the beauty I had.
So I thought she was miserable for having to try to improve herself in another way, but my Father sympathized with her.

"Anita, you've worked hard."

"Yes, Father."

"Anita has already learned three languages, you know?"

"Impressive."

I watched as Anita's head was patted by my Father, and she was given a book.

Only Anita received gifts, not me.
So I decided to be a little mean.

"Who broke the vase... this vase is—?"

"It was Anita. I saw her do it."

I pretended that it was Anita who had broken the vase.

But...

"No, I didn't do it."

"But only you enter the study, Miss Anita. Please admit your guilt already."

I instructed a maid, who was on my side.

"Anita, I don't believe you broke it."

"Huh?"

"You're bad at lying. You can't cry and lie at the same time."

My Father's cold gaze pierced through me.

"Did you see Anita enter the study?"

"Eh..."

"When did you see it? Have you been watching all along? If you claim that Anita is the culprit, show evidence. First of all, even if Anita had broken the vase, why would you, who is leaving tomorrow, be so impolite?"

"Huh?"

Leaving? What does that mean?

"Your behavior has been intolerable for some time. Especially towards Anita... I've noticed that your Mother’s personal items have gone missing while I was away, too..."

"Eh..."

"They were being sold on the black market. Those items are unique because they are one-of-a-kind."

I was caught.
The maid I had coerced into being my accomplice had been caught stealing my Mother's jewelry, and instead of reporting her, I set conditions.

"Regarding the vase, was it really Anita who entered the study?"

I glanced at the butler.

"More precisely, it was someone with a similar build to Miss Anita."

"At that time, Anita is usually at the church. It's impossible... the Director came an hour ago to deliver something Anita had forgotten."

"Huh?"

"If you're going to do something, use your head a little. Even commoner children come up with better schemes."

Not only did he see through my plan, but I was also ridiculed in front of the servants.

From that day on, I began to hate this man.

v4, Chapter 17

Intensifying Hatred
Dania’s Point of View
I was loved by everyone from a young age.
Everyone, except my Father.

In high society, the sons of nobles and merchants from the same generation all loved me unconditionally.

But that man wouldn't love me.
Instead, he loved that incompetent woman.

Even when the man I was getting to know failed in business and wanted my help.

"There's no reason to help someone who's embarked on a hopeless venture."

"Father, please!"

"There's no reason to help a total stranger."

He coldly refused to listen to my pleas.

But then...

"Why are you helping Anita's fiancé?"

"Because my daughter's husband got injured, it's only natural, isn't it?"

"Then you could have helped at that time with the money."

"I only helped family. If you wanted it so badly, you could have worked for it."

Family... Anita, who would eventually leave this house, didn't need that kind of help.

"How selfish and heartless can you be... Can't you even worry about your daughter's husband?"

"Talking to you is pointless."

He never tried to understand me.
My Father always had his back turned to me and never looked at me.

And to make things worse...

"What's the meaning of bringing in a live-in son-in-law?"

"Anita is getting married, so a live-in son-in-law is necessary."

"Then..."

"I can't let someone who hasn't even been to school succeed me."

How much more will this man insult and belittle me?!
Why is he making me marry a mediocre man?

I should be marrying a nobleman and living elegantly in the Capital!

Being forced into an unwanted marriage and marrying the mediocre Diaz was the worst.
But that man liked Diaz.

So I waited for that man to die.

But he was quite tenacious.
So I laid the groundwork for him to die sooner.

As long as that annoying man was gone.

Everything was supposed to go my way.

"I will not let it end like this."

I remembered the past, and that man who deprived me of the path I should have taken.

And Diaz.

That's right.
I haven't done anything wrong.

"I absolutely won't let it end like this."

I can't forgive the fact that I'm so unhappy while they are living happily in the Capital.

I won't be satisfied like this.
I'll climb out of this hell and bring those two down to it, no matter what.

I won't accept anything less.

I must be happy, no matter what!
