When the day came for me to go out with Jed, I went to his room, but he didn't answer. It seemed that he had left the inn before I did.
I set a time to meet him. But since we were staying at the same inn, I hadn't specified the place.
Incidentally, I told Giselle not to follow me.
It took me two hours to convince her not to.
“I will investigate Ewe in the meantime”, she said as she reluctantly backed off, but I was worried about that, too.

“Good morning, Elle.”

As I passed by the reception desk on the first floor, Ewe greeted me, and I smiled back.
She smiled and said, "I heard you're going out with Jed today.” Giselle was the only one who knew that I was going out with him today.

“How did you know?”
“Jed has been hanging around in front of the inn for a while, so I called out to him, and he said shyly, 'I'm going out with Elle.’”

I followed Ewe’s gaze and looked outside to see Jed wandering around. I smiled wryly at my outing partner, who was waiting for me while acting as if he was a suspicious person.
From behind me, Ewe spoke to me, "You guys get along well.”
I don't have a special relationship with Jed. I just met him by chance and somehow he came to like me. To be honest, I have no idea what he's thinking. Yesterday's letter has made me even more confused about him.

“We are normal.”
“Is that so? I was sure you two were dating.”
“Of course not. You know that’s not true.”

At my words, Ewe’s expression stiffened for a moment. She made a big smile to cover it up and said, "I just found out thanks to you.” I didn't say anything to that, since it sounded like a lie.

“Giselle is not going with you today?”
“Yeah, it’s not like we are always together.”
“Is that so? Well, going on a date with an attendant in tow is a bit tasteless, after all.”

Attendant, huh.
Giselle is a former personal maid of mine, but now I treat her as a friend. The person herself doesn’t like it, but I have always considered her my friend. I want her to treat me like a friend, too.
My eyes sharpened, and I replied, "Giselle is my friend.”
Ewe just smiled at me.

"Oh, yes. I thought she was your attendant because she sometimes uses honorifics when talking to you.”

I felt like shouting Giselle's name. No, I will shout it in my mind.
I told her to stop, but she said, "I've been calling you that for ten years, and it's hard to change it now," and uses it whenever she can.
I think I should make her stop already.

“Just who are you that she calls you Lady?”

It was the first time she asked something this personal.
Since she is so curious about that, “And just who are you, Ewe?” I asked. A pleasant smile appeared on her face.

“I’m just this inn’s proprietress.”
“I’m also just a traveler.”

We both had bad smiles on our faces.
Maybe it's time to go.

“Ewe, I would like to talk with you this evening.”
“What a coincidence, there’s something I have been wanting to talk to you about as well.”

She was staring at me with her cheek resting in her hand, and her eyes were glowing red.
